I think it's quite funny, now. But I do think it's more of a 'lounge' than a bar. Think that carpet in there is going to get ruined very soon from spillages :lolol:

from the glasses or body?

What?

Serious sense of humour faliure from some about the name. I LOVE the irony. Who cares what other fans think, or say, about our beautiful stadium and its Dick bar.

Drinks, nothing else

The place feels more like a lounge than a bar, in my opinion. But I've only been there when it's been empty, so it might feel different when it's rammed. Drinks will be spilled, though, so the carpet will get mushy pretty quickly. Personally, I think a mop-clean floor would have been more practical and more bar-like than carpet. But it's not a moan, just an observation.

I think those of you 'moaning at the moaners' and saying we've had a sense of humour failure have missed the point a bit. I've got no sexuality issues and I don't give a shit what opposition fans think of us, but I'm prepared to bet that a sizeable number of them won't go "Ah Dick's Bar, named after their old chairman Dick Knight. Nope nothing remotely funny about that."

Again, not a problem, like I said I don't give shit what they think. But some people on here often moan about the homophobic abuse from opposition fans and wish they could think of something else to chant. I would argue that having a bar called "Dick's" is if anything going to encourage that, as I bet that for every away fan who smiles at the witty post-modern irony another 100 will guffaw loudly at having had their prejudices re-enforced. I don't mind the homophobia, but if you want to stop it this is hardly a step in the right direction.

Fair poiint. And maybe a way to prevent racism is to not have any black players?

Did people find his name funny when it wasn't the name of a bar?

DICK Knight! Ha ha!

No, nobody said a word, this is no different.

Eh? What have the players got to do with it?

You suggested a way to prevent homophobia is to not have a bar called Dicks. By extension, I suggest maybe a way to prevent racism at football is to not have black players.

Before he became an albion fan, (and the devil incarnate on here), Mike Ward wrote a piece in a national newspaper (when no papers were interested) highlighting what was happening with archer and bellotti and how the fa needed to act. He did however say that Dick Knight sounded like a bohemian porn club and perfectly in keeping with Brighton's seedy image.

But it's not the same argument. You could also say that the way to combat homophobia is not to have any Brighton fans.

EDIT: And I didn't say it would 'prevent' homophobia, I said it would merely re-enforce already-held prejudices.

I'm sitting in the bar at the moment looking at the Mosaic!!

It's really easy just ask the lady sitting in the North Stand reception.

I disagree. I think when you see the signage "Dick's Bar" it's not the same as seeing it as someone's name. Well it isn't to me.

Anyway I was talking to this gay bloke in the library the other day. I said, "Do you like Dickens?"
He replied, "Dunno, I've never been to one."
