You said if you wanted to stop homophobia this bar name is a not a step in the right direction. Stop, prevent, pretty similar eh?
No. You twisted my words to say 'prevent'. I'm not so naive as to think that calling it something neutral will 'prevent' homophobia - and I'm sure you're not either. At the risk of repeating myself my sole point in that regard is that for a proportion of away fans (and no I can't quantify it) it will act as a red rag to a bull and will re-enforce their already-held prejudices about Brighton fans. Which brings us on to.....

Here you go. And whilst we're at it, I do mind homophobia.

And just to clarify, my point is that I think your suggestion that getting rid of this particular bar name might be a step in the right direction in the fight against homophobia is a bit daft.
That's your opinion. As stated above I obviously disagree but fair enough. Time will tell on that score.

Anyway, at least you didn't say that my .... I can't really call it 'objection' to the name so I'll settle for 'slight misgivings', isn't down to ungratefulness to Dick Knight, or any insecurities or feelings of latent homosexuality on my part which seems to be the general gist of the posts of the 'pro-dicks', so thank you for that.

I think it would be a mistake to try to get away from 'Dick's Bar'.

Firstly, unless I've missed something, that's not an official name, but has just arisen (no pun intended) out
of humour and affection.

Secondly, if you asked the gay community I'm sure they would be more offended if we removed that title.
It's funny, it makes light of our City's diversity and brings both sides of our community together, in a slightly
Carry On fashion.

I think the people whom will be more uneasy are the homo-phobes (not accusing you of that in the slightest by the way).

I'm very pro-Dick (bar)

I used to work with a guy who has the wonderful surname of Bender. If only he'd have saved the Albion.

I also used to work with a guy called Bender who married a lady called Randy who took his surname. TRUE FACT.

You have missed something. Mr Knight chose that name himself and it is the official name of the supporters bar.

You must have missed the picture I posted, from inside the stadium, with the name of the bar above the door...

I think this is probably the most depressing thread ever on NSC.

If you don't like the name Dick's, vote with your feet and leave more room for the rest of us

The seaside.
Those earnest folks worrying about away fans being beastly about the name of a bar they most likely won't even be aware of, why not petition the club to call the away fans' concourse bar Cocksucker's or something. That way you can be even more beastly back...

looks like an airport or hotel lobby - carpet is dodgy too........to be expected tho......imagine the state of all that after a few rainy days.

Dick's bar is a very gay name....but doesn't really matter......hopefully away fans won't find out or we will be laughing stock.

Is it a rubbish name? Probably.

Is it worth getting worked up about? Absolutely not.

I'd have liked it to have been named The Chicken Run.
