The way the Colts started moving the ball so well and after the Saints failed on 4th and 1 in the second quarter I really didn't see the Saints having a chance. Massive call for the onside kick to start the second half though.

That was the games big play and also keeping Manning off the pitch. Finally nailed with a turnover great win for the Saints.

Thoroughly enjoyed that! Sometimes the Superbowls can be a bit one sided but it was right in doubt until Manning threw that interception with about three minutes to go.

Great game, great sport. Only sad bit is that it's over now until September.

I had Birmingham, Chelsea and Saints to win @ 9-1, so enjoyed seeing that come in last night.
Amazing turnaround with Saints trailing 10-0 after the first quarter, but the Saints worked their way back brilliantly, and that interception that sealed the win had me doing a 3am JIG

:clap2:

Cracking game! Looked a bit omminous after the first quarter but once the Saints realised the Colts were shit scared of giving up a big play downfield and they could move the ball with easy 10 yard underneath passes it all started to tick.

Big thing about that was that it meant they were doing 8 minute drives every time they had the ball, this keeping manning off the field. I said they'd need to be +2 on turnovers and although officially they were only +1, that amazingly big bollocked onside kick was as good as a turnover!

I love this game so much, gutted that its 7 months off now!

Watching this game I realised that regardless of which team I'm backing in a given game, if either defence gives up big yardage (>7) I get frustrated with their ineptness, if an offence doesn't take much yardage (<3) I get frustrated with their ineptness. It's like the only plays that don't frustrate me are between 3-7 yards long.

Managed to catch some of the coverage in the canteen at work during my nightshift and was absolutely glued to the screen for all I saw, truly amazing performance........................................

..........But fortunately I only saw the Who do the half time entertainment rather than the dirge that is American football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forgot that as well, very good performance by the Who and the lasers, lighting and fireworks were superb.

I wonder if Pete got any time in to do a bit of that "research" he does sometimes.

The more I watch the NFL, the more I see ways to improve the Premiership over here with wage caps, and drafts etc.

However, the big thing is the short 16 week season. It leaves the fans drooling for 7 months of the year at the prospect of the new season and ensures that games are nearly always sold out. The bloated money-hungry premiership should take note. Less games, shorter seasons and the grounds will be full.

On the game, amazing performance from the Saints. How they managed to keep Manning off the field was remarkable and the short kick-off was an inspired peice of thinking. Am I right in thinking that's the first time in Superbowl history that play has been made before the 4th quarter?

I believe that is correct, think the coach was miffed they missed the scoring opportunity at the end of the first half.

The key was keeping Manning of the pitch which they did very well.

Although looks like the salary cap will be gone next year, which IMO could ruin the whole contest. But then I would say that as a Bills fan.

Good game & great result.
The only downside out here was ESPN managed to get the sound & vision completely out of sync for the half time show, which ruined it.
Bourbon St would have been fun last night!

Unbelievable that the salary cap will go but seeing that almost all NFL money is divvied up via TV Rights and everyone gets the same amount (as far as I am aware) then from a practical point of view no particular team should have more money than anyone else - excepting the Billionaire Owner scenario?

Well no teams will go to the wall, but there are MASSIVE differences in terms of how much money the owners have, which already makes a massive difference in terms of non-playing staff which has effects the outcome.

Teams in bigger markets will have backers coming in and funding individual player salaries, and again places such as Buffalo, Green Bay, Cincinatti are gonna have a lot less such people than New York, San Francisco, Chicago...

was a good superbowl, thought george benson might have had the decency to dance with his parasol though.

what was peeeyton thinking with that pass on 3rd and 6 looking for addai? he needed to be lobbing it to clark by then and even if he made that there wasn't enough time for an onside (even if it worked) and then getting up the field again. stupid play but manning is not a favourite of mine so to see him getting rattled and narky was always nicce.

superbash was good, lots of saints fans and of course the neutrals were all saints. at least it didn't snow and we didn't get stuck there.

roll on april 22nd and the draft. though thanks to lovie we don't pick until, oh...73rd/round three. they better trade up, lord knows we desperately need it.

As a Broncos fan may I say thanks for some of those picks:thumbsup:

I did enjoy this years game although watching on Sky I'm not sure what was up with Cecil Martin as he lisped his way through the game and wouldn't turn to face the camera. He also seemed very subdued as he is normally really lively and entertaining.

I'm not a Who fan but was very impressed by both their performance and the stage show that they had. What always amazes me is the way that they build and break down the set during half time. The countdown clock for the start of the second half showed 7:20 (I think) when they finished so realistically they got that whole set cleared in about 5 minutes.
