Funnily enough, that phrase came up today when I was talking to the Mrs about tonight's game...Doesn't tonight's matchup completely disprove that saying??

Well we shall see - over the years many FLAIRTASTIC offenses (such as the Dan Marino & Marks Bros Dolphins) have been stuffed by opposing teams with less stellar attacks but stifling defenses. I would cite the Chicago Bears of 1985 as the perfect example - didn't need to do too much on offense - just let the opposition Patriots be crushed by the defense.

I must admit that for various reasons I haven't paid too much attention to this years NFL campaign - I know the Colts are a high powered team offensively but know very little about the 'Aints'. They must have improved from the years when no-one bothered selecting any of their players for Fantasy Football Teams....

On US TV (if there really is such a thing) there are blokes in motorcyle helmets and short sleeve blue shirts coming into a stadium - is that the thing you are talking about?

Yep - died last June age 50 of a heart attack.
Blimey, must have been all that shouting!

Back to the game, just had a walk around our bars here on the ship & the colts fans are ounumbering the saints fans about 4 to 1.
I'm still going for Saints though, with Reggie Bush to score the first TD.

Lots of whooping, back slapping & beer drinking going on.

Made me wonder what a Palace v Brighton cup final would be like on here. I know I wouldn't be too keen on watching the game sat next to some "chap" from that place.
Different culture, different game, I know.

Make the same mistake every year. Dodge everything about it so I don't stay up til stupid a clock. Have now watched the entire prematch show, and will no doubt be up til 3am

Not a big NFL fan, but tend to watch the Superbowl. I'm going for New Orleans for matters away from football

Although the Ravens have been around for over a decade, would many residents of Baltimore still be rooting for the familiar old uniform in this one do people reckon or would it be quite the opposite?

Colts field goal is the first score, Manning moved the ball very freely which looks ominous for the Saints.

Two very good moves for the Saints pushing them up field.

Well done Saints, good to see the underdogs win one.

I stayed up for the whole game, though flicked over to 'chopped' on the food network during half-time. While I like some of the who's stuff, their performance didn't start strong (superbowl half-time shows rarely have strong vocal performances, and usually have bad sound), and I'm not enough of a fan to stick it out.

I didn't bother staying up for the presentations.

I tried watching that after work last night. Not the sport for me I'm afraid. 30 seconds of play followed by 3 minutes of discussion about the 30 seconds of play.

Whatever floats your boat though.
