Two slow fried (sunflower oil) free range eggs. Three slow fried organic tomatoes. Three free range pork, gluten and preservative-free sausages from Macknade farm shop, three ditto rashers of bacon, one slice of gluten free toast, one bowl of porridge made with lactose-free milk and garnished with home-made plum jam, one pot of red lable tea.

Are you taking bookings or can I just turn up?

Last weekend I had a Bamberg breakfast which consisted of two weisswurst and a half liter of smoked beer. Weisswurst are white sausages which are raw but slightly warmed in warm water.

Now I quite fancy the Weisswurst sausages, but smoked beer sounds a bit strange, I know I sound like Peter Kaye with "Garlic Bread!". But seriously. is that an acquired taste?

Same as last time - free range, organic fried egg from Macs Farm, toasted sourdough, black coffee x2.

However, inspired by Harry Wilson's tackle next week I shall have............a full fry up, a number 6 and a long sit down.

In America they sometimes have steak for breakfast but who on earth has one over here, unless you’re a body builder? I couldn’t imagine anything less breakfasty. But then they eat bacon jelly and peanut sandwiches. Savages.

For the record, I had scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon. Very nice. And CIVILISED!

I’ve got your answer. Don’t think I’ll ever understand this one...

Veggie sausages, egg and extra mature cheddar in a Sheldon's oven bottom muffin, with a hashed brown on the side.

It's our home version of the McDonalds' classic.

Veggie Sausage (Linda Mac spicy chorizo) Veggie finger, scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast, flora light and marmite and a small tin of baked beans between the two of us.

It is. Different breweries, and also their beers, have different degrees of smokiness though, Schlenkerla Märzen is very dark and smokey but Spezial Brauerei was lighter. I also had some bottles of a Schlenkerla Helles Lagerbier which are not made from smoked malt, but acquired a light smokiness from the environment in which they are brewed; lovely and the smokiness disappeared after a few glugs.

Nothing wrong with steak for breakfast. What makes some things _breakfasty_ and some not?

I know a guy who used to have a full roast chicken for breakfast every day. I once saw him order a mixed grill that was made for two at 11am. The waiter was a bit taken aback but suitably impressed when he finished it off in no time. Funnily enough he's vegan now.

Now I know we've had threads about this before, but out of interest, how do you make your scrambled eggs?

Low heat in a frying pan with a bit of butter. Don't beat the eggs before adding to the pan but gently stir with a wooden spoon after you've put them in.

The question is do you add salt before cooking, during or after? Some people (Gordon Ramsey, for one) will tell you not to add it before cooking as it makes them tough. Others say it doesn't make much difference or if anything pre-salting makes them more tender (https://www.seriouseats.com/2014/04/does-pre-salting-eggs-make-them-tough.html).
