I really can't be arsed with all this, but do you really think your NI contributions were 'invested to pay your pension ?'

What do you think paid for the NHS, Police, emergency services, public services, benefits, education and every other aspect of living in the UK when you were growing up ?

The very simple fact is that even though you've now buggered off to Malta, your living costs are being paid by teenagers, all those various Gen whatever their names are these days (I can't keep up), and young families trying to make ends meet in Britain. Unless you're going to claim that you don't take a state pension paid for by all those people on a weekly basis.

The simple fact is that if you do, you are on benefits

So I am guessing it's only fair that you should have a detailed check to see if your a valid benfitee or a scrounger

Good idea, if Doctors can't be trusted to determine who is unwell, can we really trust a registrar to have correctly noted a date of birth? Maybe a minister could just declare all those of State pension age to actually be ten years younger, and dig us out of the pension hole.

To be fair, I would probably be a slight improvement!! For starters I don't blame everyone else for my own f**k ups. Then there's obviously my charming personality. If the job was offered to me, I'd have to look at the accommodation 1st. I don't want people snitching on me if I have parties when there's a lockdown. To be honest I'd decline as I'd miss walking my dog over the South Downs too much and I'd worry that my cats would get run over on a busy London road.

I just had an overwhelming feeling of deep disappointment that you got a word wrong from such an iconic track!! It's The Prodigy, they were one of the very few groups that successfully crossed loads of genres. They crossed punk, hardcore rave, techno and pop. No excuse for not knowing the right words.

Nope, no excuses for not putting the correct words however you are trying to frame it. Twisted works as well as wicked.
I have it on vinyl but it's not technically mine, actually its in no way mine, I hid it in a vinyl split. I feel guilty, I've confessed to Jnr that I hid it, I've now confessed to NSC. It's not kept for monetary value, it's kept to play.
Actually this tangent has led us back to this 'sick note' culture that Rishi wants to eliminate.
Something tells me that Keith Flint didn't need to claim benefits before he hung himself, but would be on the front line of 'benefit reforms' if he didn't have a penny behind him. He may have claimed benefits, I don't know. I'm just guessing that he probably had some cash coming in that didn't mean he had to go and fight to get an appointment at a job centre.
People of today eh! They should be shrugging things off and getting on with it, rather than being so workshy that they hang themselves!

I'm not a Tory boy , I would probably vote labour at the next GE.

But I saw a stat the other day that showed a record 54.2% of people (36 million) now live in households which received more in benefits than they contributed in taxes, which is a little disturbing. Would be good to see the stats without pensioners.

It does feel like this country and especially the youth (yes I know they have it hard) are pretty work shy these days. Hard to recruit in retail for instance since Brexit.

The other way if looking at that is that companies have over 50% of their employees subsidised because they don't pay them enough.

Are you suggesting the Sunak plan is because it is almost impossible to see a GP?

Not a very well considered solution, if I may say so. If you can't get a plumber would you call in an electrician, or plasterer?

Also it isn't the reason Sunak himself gave, which was to reduce the number of people claiming benefits due to being signed off work owing to sickness by a doctor.

However, if his plan is a hit with you, perhaps this suggests another reason why he has proposed it.

The biggest problem is that GPs aren't actually NHS employees - they are either self employed or employed by a private business. This means THEY get to choose their hours. The government should be looking at bringing all GPs in as NHS employees and not on their £100k private salaries. Once that is completed then lets bring dentists back into the NHS employee fold. Nearly all GPs and Dentists have had their training subsidised by the British tax payer - time to make good - or pay the FULL cost of your training back to the NHS if you want to be a private employee.

Well, there’s an additional problem that NHS surgeries can no longer afford to employ doctors. Appointments are being taken by unqualified Physician Associates. There are qualified GPs who can’t get NHS jobs despite wanting them, and many others f***ing off to Canada, New Zealand or Australia for better pay.

There are qualified GPs who can’t get NHS jobs despite wanting them, and many others f***ing off to Canada, New Zealand or Australia for better pay.

Yep. A 'young' medic (only 7 years experience, early 30s, on about £40K, FFS) who did a research project with me moved to Victoria in BC to save his marriage (by being paid much more for fewer hours).

As for physician associates....they simply don't have the skills of an experienced GP. One prescribed me colchicine to clear inflammation in what she diagnosed as gout and left me housebound for weeks owing to the severe gastrointestinal adverse effects. I explained to her I don't have gout and the pain isn't in my big toe. When I went back weeks later, an experienced GP popped in and saw me and immediately diagnosed a march fracture. Bosh.

It isn't just poor quality service using physician associates. It is potentially dangerous and certainly prone to avoidable errors.

It's not surprising that Sunak wants to use unqualified people to diagnose whether someone is fit for work, afterall, they've been using unqualified people to fill ministerial roles for years!!!
