Sugar can be burned off easily.

But for most people it isn't - just more excess calories.

Come on people - we live in a city with brilliant food and you're getting excited about a chain restaurant which basically put's pizza hut fillings in hot dog buns.

Some of the fillings are but turkey and ham slices are not. The bread is like a baguette or ciabatta.

Fat (as in a burger) takes a lot more burning off than sugar.

Anyway do you know that every pint of beer is 240 calories?

So what.

As pointed out the bread isn't like a baguette. I bet if you analysed the baguette I get and the "bread" from subway there would be quite a difference.

And the turkey and ham - it's reconstituted rubbish packed with salt, sugar and water - probably includes mechanically recovered meat.

Subway is shit - it's scientific fact.

You lot are barking up the wrong tree with the bread. Even if it does have more sugar in it, per sub it isn't going to be very much, most likely less than most people have in a cup of tea, I'd be more concerned about the quality of the flour.
Subway is full processed shit, but it tastes bloody nice, if you want healthy food then you shouldn't be eating a big chunk of any bread.

Probably and scientific fact don't go together.
Beer is chemicals which have as many calories as a Mars Bar.
Imagine eating 8 Mars Bars every time you go to the pub?

Am I the only person who thinks that Subway sandwiches are actually quite expensive for what they are? It's just a sandwich.

You're not the only one.

They've just opened one right outside my halls of residence, but they're having difficulty getting customers. We've been getting flyers with some serious discounts, so might take advantage at some point. But it only brings them down to a sensible price. For food on the move, you can't beat a Marks and Spencer sandwich.

It probably contains mechanically recovered meat. Even if it doesn't it's still scientifically proven to be shit - just like your argument.

And I think you may be married to an alcholic. Not everyone drinks eight pints every time they go down the pub.

Not for a second would I say his generosity woud go unappreciated, but did Buzzer tell you where he bought me a pastry from on Saturday morning?

Doubt it, although in his defence, he was playing at space cadets at the time.

£2.99 for a 6 inch baguette, a drink and a packet of crisps.

I mentioned beer as most people who post here like a pint and go on about foodstuffs being full of calories. Apparently it is very ironic to avoid a burger but eat a subway?
No, Voroshilov, my husband isn't an alcoholic. In fact, he doesn't even go down to the pub. Many many people on here do drink 8 pints or so when they do go out.

Irrespective of the scientific value etc of Subway I bnelive that they are as good as any of the fast food chains and better than most and represent good value for money if you buy the daily special at £1.99

I seldom use takeaways but if forced to I would usually go to subway as I like the chicken terryaki. Mind you I have since made a pretty decent version myself. My wife and I can share a footlong, I'm not sure I could manage a whole one.

It's a fair bet that the chicken is mechanically recovered and processed in those huge tumble drier things in holland that add water and pork proteins plus a few other additives I would imagine.

Still, I'd only be concerned if I was eating a takeway more than once a week but some people live on shit like that.
