Here & there
At the Tranmere game last week someone, after being told not to stand on his seat, had an argument with a steward about where it says on his ticket that he can't stand on his seat. It was quite funny & technically he was right!

Many years ago, 1st game away to Orient.

About 1/2 an hour in the old fella next to me nudges me and says:-

"Our centre half looks familiar, has he played for us before".

It was Steve Foster, on his return to us.

At the play-off final (the one between us and Bristol City) the bloke sat to my right shouted out "come on Reading"...not really sure why.

i remember one game when someone was so trolleyed they couldnt make the distinction between kuipers and roberts, and sounded thoroughly suprised after 30 minutes as they shouted out "f*** me, is that kuipers in goal"

I do remember hearing a story of someone in the Withdean North Stand - a guest of the club's and someone quite prominent - screaming abuse across the pitch at Swindon Town's Andy King non-stop for 20 minutes until being told by the stewards to shut up for upsetting people around him.

And for the fact that Andy King had been sacked six months beforehand.

Krispies a few weeks ago whist Loft was warming up, sung the correct words of Bob the Builder, very quitely.

"........With Lofty and Wendy we'll get the job done."

Maybe you had to be there. But I still raise a smile.

Heard at the match at Oldham "Gary Hart wont be playing today - he didn't have a tracksuit on when he got off the coach"

My Dad's one was a fun one

It was old Goldstone days and Brady was manager. We were playing badly and my Dad was torn between shouting "Liam, give 'em some gip" and "Liam Give 'em some verbal". The mangled syntax came out thus:

"Liam, give 'em some Gerbil".

Priceless.

PS It was also used to name the character Gerbil in BRIGHTON TIL I DIE.

Once sat next to somebody who was telling me he had stayed off the sauce for 2 weeks, he said it was difficult and didn't know how those recovering alcoholics can cope !!
