I went on a boat trip down the Thames yesterday and John kettley the weather man was on it .

Graham Hill (F1 World Champion back in the 1960's and FAR cooler bloke than Damon Hill) ran over my foot with the rear tyre of his Lotus 49 in the paddock at Oulton Park in 1967 - I was a star struck young fan too busy looking at all the F1 Cars and not looking where I was going.

Strangely I don't recall it hurt particularly, perhaps because they were big tyres, certainly didn't tell my Dad about it or would have got a clip around the ear for wandering off.

Also pretty certain Jack Brabham, Jochen Rindt and Jackie Stewart (also all F1 World Champions) drove at that meeting as well but none of them ran over my foot so can't claim any connection with them.

Graham Hill attended a school fete at Ifield Comprehensive school in Crawley when I was about 10 years old (around 1973) - he was signing autographs but a huge crowd round him and my friend (who was a mad keen motor racing fan) and I could not get anywhere near him. Once he had finished he disappeared inside the school with some of the school staff - my friend and I who did not go to that school broke into the school through a partially opened window and chased him down a corridor where we managed to stop him, have a chat and successfully got his autograph (which I still have some where).

My other claim to fame is that I once shagged Dennis Waterman's niece! (If you can call that a claim?)

Sammy Nelson took me to my first Albion game and he used to give my football team talks at half time. We lost most of the games which might explain why he works for Arsenal as a host.

Albion connections....Was doorman at a casino when in came one Bobby Smith.....
