Come on people, our amazing 'succession planning' is all hyperbole. It's a term used merely to make our selling philosophy and our lack investment in keeping staff at our club more palatable to the fans. Our 'succession planning' has been shit since RDZ came in (bar Pedro). Having a list of targets means f*** all if they won't come or we won't give them assurances they request. It must be quite rare to find an ambitious manager who accepts the 'our way, or the highway attitude' from the club. We just needed to give RDZ some bloody money to spend out of those profits. Surely, the majority of fans would agree there were glaring gaps in the squad and RDZ was let down in the summer and Jan. This isn't to say I agree with him publicy displaying his frustrations though.

Thanks Bozza. I stay away from Political threads on here as well as Political talks in life with family and friends post Brexit. That seemed to bring out the worse in people.

Whilst I'd agree Cooper doesn't immediately set the pulses racing I think we can offer him a far more stable environment in which to work than his previous employer. Given the chaos at Forest he did an admirable job, and his success with the England U17s bodes well for a club that is looking to bring players through the academy.

I'd not hate it if he was appointed.

Exactly. Not many managers have left every club/team in a better place than when they joined. Cooper did it as England U17, Swansea and Forest. He also knows the Premier League

Did you honestly think our squad was able to compete the glaringly obvious gaps in the summer? To then not address it again in Jan when the injury list was piling up too, wasn't RDZs fault. It's not about him choosing the signings. It is about the club giving the guy the tools he needs to do the job to the standard he had already set for himself, the team and the club. The club were happy to agree on this high standard when they finished 6th, got to a FA Cup semi final and qualified for Europe.

This guy was always going to be one of the most likely candidates. But I'd sort of imagine it would be a done deal now if we've decided he's our boy. Unlike a lot of our other probable candidates, Cooper is not waiting for Manchester United and very unlikely would get a better job than with us.

It is difficult to get good value in January.
Even more difficult when the manager tells the world, two days before the transfer window opened, "we need 3-4 players". Things don't get cheaper or easier when other clubs know that the club needs to please this manager and his insatiable desire to get new players to play to death or fall out with.

Anyway, he's history. He will be someone elses problem now.

Signing players to cover injuries seems like an easy fix, but then those injured players come back and now you have a hopelessly bloated squad and a wage bill beyond what it ought to be.

You can't buy your way out of an injury crisis in the transfer market.
