So let down he had a squad that even injury ravaged got to European knock out stages and the 3rd best league finish in our history.

But Palace managed to finish above us and we dropped points at home to Burnley and Sheff Utd, and got totally dicked away by the other relegated team.

Unfortunately like the 83 cup run, the European adventure papered over the cracks, we all probably knew once Moises went, that the squad wasn't strong enough or big enough to compete for the Top 7 and compete in both Europe and the FA Cup.

But every days a school day, and whilst they wont start wearing sack cloth and ashes, Messrs Bloom and Barber will privately admit mistakes were made, so I'm hoping the new manager, whoever it is, will have a busy summer on the recruitment front.

I went along to a couple of Forest games with a friend of mine the season Cooper took over from Hughton.

First match just before Hughton was sacked, the other a few months later. To say the atmosphere and attitude around the team and the crowd had been transformed is to understate it.

Now there's obviously more to that than just the manager, they had some good loans in as well so the team was also just better, but I don't really understand why so many people on here are so down on the guy.

You know why they are down on Cooper?
There seems to be an entitlement on here that we only do elite managers now and people are hoping for an upgrade on RDZ.
As quite a few on here have already said he could do a good job for us and let's face it there aren't many other obvious candidates.

Steven Reid holds refs in same high regard as our Dunky did last time we played there ...

As others have alluded to on here he is quite likely to be someone we interviewed merely for completeness so to speak

But suspect more TB and PB thought about it more they might be coming round to this appointment

Would also fully expect he is one of those people that when you start asking others and doing a bit of background due diligence on then absolutely no one will have a bad word to say about him either

Granted he's no looker, but coaching ability wise he's head and shoulders above anyone else on the betting list, he works well with good players, of which we have a number, if our recruitment dept don't let him down, I think it could be the most significant appointment in the club's history since Micky Adams in April 1999.

Not particularly inspiring choice IMO, but a safe pair of hands who will relish this type of opportunity (squad wise and owner), and does bring young players on.

I think given his coaching sucess in the England youth set up, with potentially some of the best players in the country for their age group, its a forward thinking appointment.

If its Cooper, I would take finishing position 1-10, you can have 11-20, and shall we say £100 straight wager to either Chestnut Tree House or The Rocking Horse Appeal?

Just seen rumours about Steve Cooper, as a man and a representative of my club I can’t speak highly enough of him, I’d genuinely love him to get a good job like BHA and succeed, it doesn’t count for everything but he’s a great fella, personally if our owner, son and their acolytes hadn’t interfered so much with transfers and team picking I‘m confident he would have continued to push Forest forward.

I agree. He’s a good manager, and you guys know your stuff when it comes to good managers.
