Come on people, our amazing 'succession planning' is all hyperbole. It's a term used merely to make our selling philosophy and our lack investment in keeping staff at our club more palatable to the fans. Our 'succession planning' has been shit since RDZ came in (bar Pedro). Having a list of targets means f*** all if they won't come or we won't give them assurances they request. It must be quite rare to find an ambitious manager who accepts the 'our way, or the highway attitude' from the club. We just needed to give RDZ some bloody money to spend out of those profits. Surely, the majority of fans would agree there were glaring gaps in the squad and RDZ was let down in the summer and Jan. This isn't to say I agree with him publicy displaying his frustrations though.

Thanks Bozza. I stay away from Political threads on here as well as Political talks in life with family and friends post Brexit. That seemed to bring out the worse in people.

Can see he's shown remarkable self awareness and changed, thanks for clarifying.

The problem as I see it is. For the last five or so years we have an identity, a certain way of playing.
Bloom and Barber have even said as much. Can Cooper carry on our way of playing ???

Whilst I'd agree Cooper doesn't immediately set the pulses racing I think we can offer him a far more stable environment in which to work than his previous employer. Given the chaos at Forest he did an admirable job, and his success with the England U17s bodes well for a club that is looking to bring players through the academy.

I'd not hate it if he was appointed.

Exactly. Not many managers have left every club/team in a better place than when they joined. Cooper did it as England U17, Swansea and Forest. He also knows the Premier League

100%, should have allowed him to influence the signings so we had a couple more like Dahoud and Fati to keep the stroppy egotist happy

Did you honestly think our squad was able to compete the glaringly obvious gaps in the summer? To then not address it again in Jan when the injury list was piling up too, wasn't RDZs fault. It's not about him choosing the signings. It is about the club giving the guy the tools he needs to do the job to the standard he had already set for himself, the team and the club. The club were happy to agree on this high standard when they finished 6th, got to a FA Cup semi final and qualified for Europe.

Point of interest, plenty of clubs had loads of injuries as well as us. How many other coaches whinged about it in most pressers and called out their owner for lack of investment?

This guy was always going to be one of the most likely candidates. But I'd sort of imagine it would be a done deal now if we've decided he's our boy. Unlike a lot of our other probable candidates, Cooper is not waiting for Manchester United and very unlikely would get a better job than with us.

How many other clubs sold a world class Midfield partnership for over £150 million, signed a kid and a freebie to replace them, and then asked their manager to do more than the previous season?

Good luck in your search for the next new manager, and all the best for next season, and if you can see your way clear to sending a real under strength team to City Ground giving us the best chance of three points I’d be much obliged 🤨.

Can we sing 'you're too ugly to be gay' to our own manager?

Nonsense aside, idk, I think he could do a job, it's whether he can take us to that same level as RDZ (top 8). I'd have rather we were ringing around some of the names like Amorim, Hoeness etc, maybe we are, but I wouldn't be too pissed off if it was Coops.

Everyone had injuries of course and we had a chance in Jan to relieve some the pressure. We didn't and the list kept growing.
It is difficult to get good value in January.
Even more difficult when the manager tells the world, two days before the transfer window opened, "we need 3-4 players". Things don't get cheaper or easier when other clubs know that the club needs to please this manager and his insatiable desire to get new players to play to death or fall out with.

Anyway, he's history. He will be someone elses problem now.

On the calling round prospective candidates and -God knows if it was us - but Romano tweeted a quote from Gasperini today saying: “I’ve received an important proposal from a Premier League club in the recent days, weeks. I can’t accept and leave Italy now."

Signing players to cover injuries seems like an easy fix, but then those injured players come back and now you have a hopelessly bloated squad and a wage bill beyond what it ought to be.

You can't buy your way out of an injury crisis in the transfer market.

No one was blaming RDZ, certainly not the club. I think the club are happy with what RDZ delivered with what he had, I don't think the issue is with them, the issue is RDZ himself wasn't happy with that, and he's gone because of it.

The only glaringly obvious thing is that we've had 2 full seasons pretty much played entirely in the top half of the PL. Fans would have snatched your hands off for that 30 months ago.

Summed up very succinctly
