Chichester had a major electricity outage at 7 as we all went for a cup of earl grey together.

Can you get it on catch up???

I'm not sure it was intended for you, to be fair.

The fact that you were compelled to comment did make me smile, though

Missed opportunity for Starmer there really, very bland………..but it doesn’t really matter. BJ’s imminent (but overdue) demise will be an inside job, and far worse for him than anything Labour can do.

The only way Labour could become electable again is if Burnham takes on the leadership

Rumour is some ministers are resigning tomorrow over passports.

That won’t help

what was needed from day 1 was a joint political initiative from the Government AND Opposition parties, rather than all of them using this to point score.

Both main parties took the decision to make this more about politics than public health almost as soon as this whole pandemic started and as a result we are now in this complete shit show

Hopefully Starmer will give more than his usual state the beeding obvious, Captainn Hindsight routine and be a true leader of the opposition and wholeheartedly throw his, and his party's weight behind getting as many people jabbed as soon as possible

I fear though it will just be another statement offering plenty of criticism and precious little constructive help with a begrudging "we support in principal but will be holding the Government to account" line rather than the robust unequivocal "call to arms" that both the Government and Opposition should have (but haven't) been giving for the past 2 years

It was THE GOVERNMENT which decided not to make it a joint political initiative, which I agree would have been a good idea, just as it would have been good to cooperate over Brexit, which I also called for.

It’s the arrogance of the current government with a huge majority which is the problem. Instead of coalition style sense, we have extremist nonsense.

I think the Starmer one was to show that the Labour Party are the only grown ups in the room. The Tories ripping themselves apart and the other parties playing politics. The Labour Party will vote for the good of the whole UK and the NHS.

Exactly this. Starmer passing up the opportunity to vote with any rebels to try and trigger a vote of confidence partly because:
1. It probably wouldn’t work.
2. It would probably increase support in his own party for Boris.
3. He did what was in the national interest.

I wouldn’t argue with that.

Calling members of the other major party 'scum' rather belies your first sentence.

I don’t recall him using that word in this Press Conference, which is what this thread is about.

And I would doubt whether he himself has ever used the word in either recent or, in fact, any exchanges with Her Majesty’s Givernment.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Comrade Corbyn would have had us in lockdown since February 2020, mandatory mask wearing in the house, food rations and god knows what else.

We’re you born a clairvoyant or did you develop it?
I’m no Corbyn supporter but you haven’t got the foggiest idea of how he would’ve handled it, and neither have I.

Me neither. Though I think we can assume he would not have been too busy to read briefings or attend meetings because he was too busy divorcing his cancer stricken wife having knocked up a lady half his age in the office.

I think by next Spring you'll find that you were hopelessly wrong.
