Interesting. Wouldn't call TNT a major "streaming" platform if that's what he said(?). Wouldn't it be Prime in that case?
TNT is part of the Discovery+ streaming platform and is owned by Warner Brothers so I think they have a pretty wide Global base

Yeah, my old man got duped into a Betamax. That went well!
Ex-mother-in-law bought something called a Philips 2000. I think the 2000 must have referred to the price - which I think was about two grand at the time. Nice looking bit of kit. But totally useless. After about six months of her failing to find anything to play on the thing, we went round one Sunday and found it lying out by the bins 😄

My uncle had a 'Video 2000' recorder. He was a gadget freak and would tell us how much better the picture quality was. He glossed over the fact that the tapes were like C90s and had to be turned over halfway through a film.

I recall sitting in our lounge in about 1981 and the bloke from Barkers telling my parents the VHS machine was like the hula hoop, a mere passing fad, Betamax was where its at :lolol:
I think you also got 15 minutes extra on blank Betamax tapes 😂

The grow lights looked good last night from the lounge...

Is there any relevance to the different colours or just cosmetics...

I remember being told that Betamax was the equipment of choice for professionals, studio recordings etc when the fight for a standard was at its height. No idea if that was true but it sounded convincing at the time.

Apparently different colours do different things. Red light promotes germination and growth and blue supports strong roots and photosynthesis. Combining the two gives the pinky purple and more efficient than white (daylight) or other wavelengths apparently for rapid and strong growth of grass and other plants. There's also something in the height of the lights and heat generation and creating microclimates too.

The documentary could have been a twelve part series, but the more of our memories that went in would make it more and more of a piece to serve Brighton fans and nobody else. As it is, it tells a truly remarkable story and stands far enough apart from the other, more squad & pitch related, football club documentaries to be of interest to the wider community. Unlike most of those, it seemed to be a film that could be enjoyed by somebody with little knowledge of, or interest in football. It's the story of a fight against the odds and, though those of us who lived through it could fairly ask where was the mention of....., it's a fine balance between producing a detailed history and keeping the momentum of the story arc. In terms of structure, the Hyypia period had to be included as it framed our position when Chris Hughton arrived. For me, it didn't take up too much space. There wasn't a five minute compilation of Joe Bennett failing to stop crosses, just enough information to provide context.

Unsurprisingly, I found the stuff about Shoreham the most directly moving part of the film: Nothing really to do with football matches, but everything to do with putting people first and the role that a well run football club can play at a time when it's community needs to come together. It's a cliche to talk of football being a religion, but in today's world, a football match is one of the few opportunities to bring tens of thousands from a community together into one place. During difficult moments it can play the same role that churches do. In the case of Shoreham, the club response was note perfect and that really comes across in the film.
I agree with you, but the people that I and @ROSM mentioned didn’t even get a name check. The Falmer For All committee with a brief glimpse of John Hewitt, comprised of (……following names). Just a brief acknowledgement of the hundreds of hours, planning demonstrations, postcards, letters etc. Five seconds at the most.

Does anyone know if this is the finished product? If we manage to do something spectacular this year, could that add on to the final cut? Although, with how it has been delayed already, I suspect those involved probably feel like getting it out to the world.

True, but then very few fans were mentioned by name. A lot of us are grateful every time we visit. Attilla's comment about 'We did that' must be a feeling shared by all of those who did the work of which you speak and were able to visit. It's important that we acknowledge and remember them, those who weren't that lucky, and those who we have lost since. Hopefully a successful documentary might spark interest in Stephen North and Paul Hodson's books that had the space to cover those elements in detail.

Any chance you can give me the name of both books? Looking to thicken out my Christmas list.

Those books plus the Brighton til I die play (who can ever forget the Carder hat) , plus more than 90 minutes and the club histories are all parts, alongside this film, of a greater story.

There are some things we did that I'm not sure would go down well with some employers (civil disobedience in focus DIY stores for example) or acting as bouncer/helper at the lib dem dinner to get lose to menzies campbell , jo Swinson, Don foster etc so maybe it's good they don't often come back to haunt us

Those two books are worthy of a documentary in their own right IMHO. Maybe have those who are still with us read their words straight to camera with footage and photos superimposed. Wouldn't need a massive budget. Those who are sadly no longer with us could have their words read by their partner / son / daughter / other. Might not make for great global box office, but that isn't the point. Point is, it's the real story of how the fans and the wider community saved the Albion

Yeah wasn't questioning that I just meant the phrasing "streaming platform" as opposed to anything else made me think less of TNT and more of Netflix, Prime and Disney.

Either way I can't wait to watch it.
