Is it a fact that TB paid Matt Lorenzo to make the film? I always just assumed it was an independent movie of a story well worthy of telling rather than the club commissioned it

Would be odd otherwise wouldn't it, with the club promoting it and stuff?

Means its not a documentary though. A club funded movie about the club itself is never a documentary.

Sounds like a great promotional/love movie though and can't wait to see it tbh.

Superb from start to finish, and the spontaneous round of applause as the closing credits rolled at the end of today's 3pm screening was nothing less than Stand or Fall deserved.

The amount of dust in the room was chronic, however.

I thought I might complain as it must've been coming through the aircon ducts heavily at key moments such as the Shoreham Air Show disaster and numerous other key moments in our story.

A "documentary" is just a non-fiction film. The definition says nothing about funding or author p.o.v. You could argue that it's funding model means that it can't be an independent reflection of objective reality, but that's an argument you can make about any non fiction piece to some degree or other and it wouldn't stop it being a documentary.

The UK Government funded documentaries for a decade or two through the GPO's Crown Films Unit in the 1940s and 50s. They were generally films about things that concerned the UK government. Some of them were openly propogandist. That didn't stop them being documentaries. One won the Oscar for the best documentary. British schoolchildren throughout the 1970s were often 'treated' to film days on the last day of term. This generally involved some low rent family film, (I remember seeing Tommy Steele in 'The Happiest Millionaire' about a decade after it's release). Hardly any mention of Micky Adams in the film neither yet he turned us back around completely on the playing side, is there bad blood with him as well?

Both of Micky's periods precede Bloom becoming chairman, so I would be surprised. If I recall correctly, they spoke of the difficulty of retaining good managers whilst at Withdean and mentioned Micky, along with Peter Taylor and Coppell.

He was also not part of the Withdean Years DVD. He was mentioned of course but was not interviewed at all- think he may have been the only manager who didn't feature on screen

We all wanted Micky Mk 2 to suceeed, unfortunately when it didn’t that‘s when Tony probably decided it was time for him to come off the bench and replace Dick.

Russell Slade kept us up on the Saturday and Dick reluctantly tendered his resignation at the beginning of the board meeting on the Monday afternoon. Slade was a great ‘firefighter’ but it was apparent the next manager at the Withdean would have been the one who would hopefully move us to the Amex, so with Tony financing the project he obviously wanted to be the Chairman at the same time.

Personally I, like many others, would have loved to have actually seen the passing of the baton at the Spurs game in July 2011, but only one man was paying for it all

The fuckers wouldn't let me in. There were 200 spare seats, I wanted to buy a ticket and there was no way that I could. Even if I bought a ticket for tomorrow in front of them on my phone , it would not have scanned so they couldn't let me in.

I sometimes wonder given certain aspects of 21st century BHAFC you have to question whether we actually ‘won’? (Like it says in the film )
