SSN : " I dont think my the lads have gone away negative, I think they'll think hold on we can do this & I was fuming 1 or 2 of our lads swapped shirts with them, why would we want to do that? "

Wurzel getting stressed already.

What did Wurzel expect from his players wanting to swap shirts with the elite footballers they played against ? Gonna happen for the next 37 league games.

We did actually stop short of applauding the Spurs team, that's a bit Championship tbh.

Palace did okay on and off the pitch, and not the amusing drubbing I'd hoped for. What were Spurs playing at, an inquiry should be launched immediately.

Thought our 'friends' worked very hard to keep Spurs out in first half, and therefore got tired late on. But they defended well and Gayle, as I said last year having seen him at Peterborough a couple of times, is going to be a good player. At worst Palace will get their money back on him.

Also their fans, as they should have been, were good and loud. But again that is nothing new, apart from on here the rest of the Championship know Palace have good fans and good songs, home and away.

But I do think the die is cast for Palace's season. There is a quality gap. They will scrap at home and get a few wins, but away they are going to take some serious beatings.

Best thing they can do is don't go mad, take the (almost inevitable) relegation, make sure they have a team that could get back up again and would want to stay, take this great opportunity to spend millions on the ground and facilities with a long-needed upgrade, and use the parachute payments to stabilise and build a West Brom type situation.

I hope they don't do this, throw money at it, and screw themselves up...but this is what they should do.

I bet the half and half scarves were on display too - are the Palace Plastics all counting down to the Chelsea game when they can all watch their first team play.:D

Regardless of it being Palace, I genuinely thought they gave one of the most limited displays you'll ever see from an EPL team today. Sure, they only lost 1-0 which they seem to be taking as a morale boost, but in reality that match was like a League One side playing a cup match against a top team. Palace put a lot of effort in and I commend them for that, but there was NO skill, pace, invention or vision that would even slightly worry an EPL eleven. Gayle is a laughable piece of business, he looked seriously shite for a £6.5m player. Other than that it was just about scrapping and trying to ruin the match, and make it a lottery. Thankfully their awful tactics didn't reap any reward. I really think they could be on for sub-20 points this season. They're basically 7 or 8 players short of even competing.

Speed hoofball - played on a shit pitch by a shit team watched by a shit crowd in a shit stadium. The Premier League - doncha just love it!

After a summer of endless abuse, it's just nice to give some back although I would of course I would of loved to have been playing Spurs today.

This aside, they were dire but Spurs are a top 4 team and they will play worse. I reckon they will pick up a few points along the way, but will be relegated - hopefully after signing a few players on hefty contracts.

The fact that **** Holloway seems to have imploded after 1 games makes it all the better too.

Don't forget there is now an official thread for all things Palace related (not brother and sister) this season : The Official ABTN 2013/2014 Season Long Thread

The non-Brighton supporting posters on this thread have racked up over 45,000 posts between the half dozen of you. Probably nearer 50,000 with all the accounts SeasideEagle/Hansisaliar has had.

Over forty five thousand. Physician heal thyself.

Glad you have time to count but forgot to mention that one is not a Palace supporter and he alone has over 43k posts.

Spurs are one of those teams who will take an easy 1-nil result instead of putting in any real effort and scoring a handful. They swished Palace aside as if they were an annoying fly buzzing around , other teams will swat them to bits.

No, we're not. We had Campaña, Chamakh, Bolasie, Thomas, Williams, etc. who would all usually have started either unable to play through injury or on the bench. Towards the end of the game after we'd made our subs we were unlucky not to score and started to control the game a bit more. The XI we put out today was the weakest XI we'll start all season.

We are still short a few players but I'm sure we'll bring them in over the next couple of weeks. It's extremely unlikely that we'll be embarrassed this season.

Is this a copy and pasted post from your previous incarnation ? Change the names of the Palace players from last season and the season before that and "et voila"
