But as some people who went (unlike us) have said that Southend would be hard push to score a better goal than that last night.

To be honest those that went could see precisely f*** all as it was the other end of the pitch in any case. I thought Eastwood had put it in the far corner.

I saw more from the replay than I did on the night - and goals 1 and 3 look like Kuipers 'could have done better'

I knew you were talking shit when you posted this but I thought I'd better check the Meridian Tonight report to make sure - Butters was marking Sodje who made a run to the near post. The corner was flighted towards the back post, ie. Butters was nowhere near it.

I think the Meridian pictures are remarkable, I can't quite believe what I'm seeing in terms of how the ball got into the back of the net! Did a Southend player actually touch it, because it doesn't look to me as though Paynter got near it.

Have a look on Football League Review tonight, if you thought the goal we conceded at the end of the Brentford game was an unlucky and somewhat comedy goal, check this one out

My take on the goals:

#1: Kuipers in headless chicken mode, scampering around all over the place. Big mistake. Was actually an own goal, came off the side of Hammonds head, bounced into Kuipers chest and into the net.

#2: Can't fault the defence for this one, bit of a wonder goal

#3: great shot but beaten at the near post, that's terribble goalkeeping and also very unlike Michel - reckon his head was still spinning from the previous two goals.

If he makes his piece with the gaffer, reckon Hendo is in with a chance this weekend

I agree with all of you as I wasn't there, and was watching Holby instead.

Which was very moving as this gobby black teenager held two hostages and Rick performed an operation on a little boy who died of inoperable cancer....it was very sad

funnily enough, she looked a bit like Leon

His goals against Brentford two weeks ago were superb BTW

Fantastic player, I wish he was still here. Wilkins would definately sort him out.

My mistake in earlier post got goals mixed up.

I agree with the above
, altho he does seem to like being beaten at near post

I actually think the sea of bodies probably obscured Kuipers view for the third.

Fair summary. Kuipers had something of a 'mare all in all. Time for a Hendo recall.

But had it been the other way around and McGhee was still in charge, he'd be thinking 'He kept us in the game until those last few minutes, that's good enough for him to keep his spot'

People are always looking for the bad with these two, can we start looking at the positives that come out of matches we lose? ???

Or am I asking too much? :glare:

Im sorry but when a keeper (henderson as well) costs you a game with a bit of clownage you have to ask questions

Just watched them properly.

1st goal, yes agree. CLOWN :jester:

2nd & 3rd. No chance (and even Henderson wouldn't have saved them).

The Eastwood one I think he would be upe to let that one in at his near post, hit well enough but at near post.

The problem is they both seem to make match changing mistakes.

Again, at that speed? I'd be surprised if Gigi Buffon would have saved that one.

Kuipers was in the correct position, in the middle of the available goal in line with where the ball was out field.
