Russell Slade, in the time that he's been here, will have seen enough of players to make a judgment as to whether they're worth keeping or not, and after he let us out of the mess we were in when he got here, I'm willing to trust that judgment whether I personally agree with it or not.

Who are you plugged into in the Boardroom? ???

Nope. Nothing like that. Plugged to friend of a player affected.

Heard nothing on new players.

Heard nothing on coaching staff.

Purely names amongst squad. Heard a few surprising exits amongst them (which will cause debate), and a couple of offers to stay (should temper the mood). It would seems RS is making big changes and IMHO it represents a turn around in the way Albion have been doing things.

Nothing would shock me unless Whing is released.

I think we can comfortably improve on what Fraser has to offer in the midfield (as proved by the performances of Dicker). I'm hopeful that Frasers departure has confirmed Dickers arrival.

If we've got aspirations to be a top 6 team next season then it makes perfect sense to release the likes of Fraser and Loft.
Yes they did a good job towards the end of the season but that was in a team at the bottom end of the division.
We wouldn't be chasing a play off place next season with Fraser and Loft in the midfield, we'd be struggling in the bottom half again.
I'm really amazed that anyone on here would be surprised at these two going.

We will find better midfielders than Fraser, but will we find someone that has the passion.

The only reason we survived is the passion the players showed after Fraser and Hart lead the way. We need a mix of passion and ability. If we get someone with bundles of ability but doesnt try, or isnt up for a fight when times get tough, then we are in a bad position to get out of a slump.

Thats the problems Adams had, he couldnt get any fight out of anyone and we slid down the table

I think a lot of people felt that after their performances at the end of the season, they would probably stay. I am not too surprised as I could understand the continuity reasons for keeping them but also understand the reasons why they would be allowed to leave. Hopefully it means Slade feels he has to the budget to do better.

Passion isn't exclusive to local lads.

It seems one of the most common complaints during this season was the lack of passion, how all the loan signings have no interest in playing for us, lets put the youngsters in.

Bradley Johnson performed well on loan for us. The turnaround in our season was on the backs of Whing, Hart, Owusu, Dicker, and Andrews. The last three are loan players, Whing was playing for, among other reasons, a contract next year (preferring league one), Hart was playing to prove people wrong.

It is a footballer's job to play football, their professionalism, their love of the game, and their pride leads to them playing with passion (and yes, Hart and Whing had this in spades too, along with their other motivations).

Being local isn't going to automatically make you passionate or protect you from the demoralising effects of poor form or club politics, and coming to us because we offer you a contract, doesn't make you a mercenary who doesn't care about the club's fortunes.

Agreed, but passion is what often covers up deficiencies in ability. It will only get you so far.

The biggest problem we had last season was a team FLOODED with loan signings, most of whom couldn't give a monkeys. I don't expect us to be following that pattern again under Slade. A few quality PERMANENT signings, and we'll see Slade get enough professional pride out of his players to see us in the top half.

Hi Guys

Time to come clean, I am actually Doug loft and have been posting on here for the last few years under the pseudonym Billy the Fish. I've found out today that I'm going to be released. Thanks for all the support since I've been here, and to those of you who have constantly said I'm not good enough, I know where you live :lolol:
