Jason Scotland is not really cutting it in the prem, maybe Gus's old mate Roberto Martinez is ready to offload him to us, £1m would be about right....

How much would Swindon hate us if we took Austin off them aswell? :lolol:

I must admit, and perhaps I am going soft in my advancing years (and yes, I know I put the smilie on at the suggestion earlier) that I would rather we didn't take Austin off them in some ways. Having accused Southampton of taking everyone off their rivals who could possibly score goals, I wouldn't be too keen if we did this ourselves. Yes, we have signed Greer, but he wanted to leave, didn't he?

Sunday papers say that Roberts has dropped down the pecking order at Blackburn and could leave and would be less than £1m probably. He is a proven goal scorer and is quick but he is 32 years old and cannot see us paying that kind of money for a player of his age, unless it is a lot less than £1m.

A proven goal scorer! How long ago was that? You're amazing, you wouldn't want Austin, who scored 20 last season and is off the mark already this, but you want Roberts?! Unbelievable.

Austin looked very good yesterday, i was thinking he may well have been a half season wonder, i guess like when Owusu came down and Calvin Andre1 (to an extent looking at his record). But he looked sharp, a great first touch, and good ball control, every time he got the ball i and those around me you could tell started to panic.
Barnes didnt look threatening when he got the ball, Austin did, thats the difference for me, but then i dont really rate Barnes.

I would be dissapointed if it was Charlie Austin. Would prefer McDonald of Brentford if it is an up and coming but feel that it could be somebody like David Healy

Well, it's a shame we didn't try and sign Charlie McDonald while he was at Crawley a few years back then, we would have got him for a pittance.

Roberts doesnt need to drop to L1, Why would he.

Could make a bit of a case for it if we were at Falmer but no chance at withdean

I think that Swindon fans would throw their season tickets at the dug out if they sold Austin, it's not as though they need the money.

But you called him a proven goal scorer! You can't be serious?

He has proved to be a goalscorer in the past especially at this level but that doesnt mean to say I would want to sign him. In fact I would sooner sign either Austin or McDonald than him but wouldnt pay anywhere near £1m for any of them.

£1m is a lot of money for a club of our level and for it I would expect us to buy a 22/23 year old with ability who we can have for a couple of years or move on for a big fee.
