I hope to God it's Simon Cox.
With Cox and Murray up top we should have the firepower to go up, no problem.

Is there some kind of mass delusion going on here? Cox is a player with a Premier League team and if at any point they decide they don't need him there's a dozen Championship teams who will snap him up.

There's as much chance of us (or anyone in League One) signing Simon Cox as there is of me playing first violin for the London Philharmonic.

I would be dissapointed if it was Charlie Austin. Would prefer McDonald of Brentford if it is an up and coming but feel that it could be somebody like David Healy

I don't think Healy would cost £1m somehow. Or Mcdonald for that matter. Or Austin.

Oh come on. You'd be disappointed if we signed Charlie Austin. :glare: We've disagreed alot, BG, and usually I respect your opinion even when I don't agree with it. But that's just stupid.

I didnt say that. What I said was I would be disappointed if he was the £1m signing as I do not think that he is worth that amount of money. I think McDonald is a better player but again not worth £1m but a player like Healy with his reputation perhaps again not worth it but would probably command that kind of fee due to his reputation. Sorry if I didnt make that very clear.

Thought you were at least going to point out to BG that MacDonald is 29 and therefore cannot be considered 'up and coming'.

Must admit I didnt realize he was that old I thought that he was about 23 the same as Holroyd. So more reason to say he is not worth that kind of money.

I don't get it - you did mention him as someone you would pay £1m on though?! And Healy and Austin?!

Charlie Austin? Maybe Gus liked what he saw today, and while they are up there......

Imagine how low our relationship with the Swindon fans would sink if we took him off them. £1million does seem a bit much for someone who was non-league a season ago though.

werent we in for jason Scotland at one point? that would seem more likely than cox to me. slightly more likelty.

Gus did say that we just missed out on "a very special player" at the forum. Understandably he then went very cagey, but it would be very interesting to know who this was.
