So who are we going to bid £1million for then?

BG, if that's what you really meant, then fair enough. I still disagree with what you're saying, but it's slightly less baffling.

Thought you were at least going to point out to BG that MacDonald is 29 and therefore cannot be considered 'up and coming'.

I was too baffled by NOT wanting a striker with a goal ratio better even than Zamora's, who scored for the 3rd consecutive game against us today.

Imagine how low our relationship with the Swindon fans would sink if we took him off them. £1million does seem a bit much for someone who was non-league a season ago though.

Yeah because we have such a great relationship with those Swindon fans?!

Exactly what I mean! They love us as blood brothers as it is - if this came off and we played them next season, we'd all be house guests:lolol:

Could it be Le Fondre. Rotherham value him at £3m but £1m is probably a more realistic value and he scored again yesterday. A player we could use immediately, develop further and still sell on for a decent profit in a few years time.

That was the player I thought of immediately.

I think it would be a mistake to spent that sort of money at this time. Poyet has stated,he cannot afford the best players, however he is trying to put together the best team. A high earning 1m player,IMO would upset that balence.Yes we need another goal scorer, and that man could be a loan.

It all goes to show that Tony and Gus are damned if they do and damned if they don't!

Guess we will find out more when the deal is done and then we can all line up and either cheer or jeer as appropriate.

And me, would probably be affordable wages wise too.

Think Cox would be a good buy at £1m but after being at West Brom i believe we would also be paying very high wages.

If we could get Le Fondre and Lua Lua i would be very very confident

If we were thinking of paying £1m for a player at this level it would no doubt be someone no older than early 20's, who could play at a higher level or be sold on for a profit. We could not afford that sort of money for an older striker just to get us out of the division. With Gus's contacts it could even be an overseas player.

Another player who comes to mind and fits the bill is Jon Obika at Spurs who did well at Yeovil and Milwall plus he scored against Sporting Lisbon in a pre-season for Spurs. If you think they have Crouch, Defoe, Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko - that is 4 top quality strikers so he may not make their 25 player squad.

I don't get it - you did mention him as someone you would pay £1m on though?! And Healy and Austin?!

Read it again I didnt say I would want to pay £1m for him. I said I would sooner have him than Austin and that neither he nor Austin were worth £1m but because of his reputation Healy might cost that amount.

Didn't he and Murray play together at Rochdale??
