What no "Lady in Red" or is that the Large One's "too embarrasing" entry.

The one that I recall, which is also pretty embarrasing now, was by Charlie Rich - The most beautiful girl in the World

I would like to set the record straight and state quite categorically that I have never tried to enter any Red Ladies, embarrassing or otherwise. I usually wait until they have gone pale green...

I forgot - quite understandably - to mention I also got a couple of slow-dances to, oh my, here goes... *gulp* 'True' by Spandau Ballet. Oh my God, there I've said it. Uuurrr, I am going to go and have a bath now...

Other good smoochies for old bastards include: -

If you leave me now - Chicago
Imagine - John Lennon
Albatross - fleetwood Mac
The air that I breath - Hollies
Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkle
Summer (the first time) - Bobby Goldsboro
In the Air Tonight - Phil Collins
Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
Candle in the wind (original version)- Elton John
I Just died in your arms tonight - Cutting Crew (mentioned because I went to school with the Drummer and the lead singer!)
Hotel California - Eagles
Every day hurts - Sad Cafe
After the love has gone - Earth Wind and Fire
Follow you follow me - Genesis
Parisienne Walkways - Gary Moore

Some of the greatest tunes ever!

The song that brings back the saddest memory? The Carnival is over by The Seekers. Why? Because it was the last song I heard played on the Goldstone PA as I walked back to the car park after the Donny game.

Lush, you seem to have rather an unhealthy knowledge of pop lyrics of the 70s and 80s.

Is this the sign of an ill-spent youth? :)

A whisper in the morning,
Of lovers sleeping tight,

...............................

I hold on to your body and feel each move you make.

That used to get me in all sorts of trouble with at 15 in the youth club.

I accept this is weird but one club/bar in Tunbridge Wells had this thing that at the end of each night they would always play song by Europe, called Carrie and the whole place would go mad and everyone would snog fit birds.......

and I'd watch and then go outside an get picked up by my mother who used to bollock me for smoking and smelling of booze.

I was going to end up like Uncle Jack.

f*** me one little thread like this and I've stopped work and looking out of the window and all of a sudden its 1985 summer school holidays and ........................Jesus memories, .there's another song there I think.

Very true, I haven't been able to shift "Move Closer" out of my head since this thread started. I can see Phyllis Nelson's gappy teeth only too clearly in me head.

If I had a CD burner, I'd feel a compilation coming on.

Oh, a song which has "special significance" to me as goes romance would be (scary, this) Ramp/Logical Song by Scooter. It was getting constant playing at any form of disco here in 2001/2, when I met my girlfriend. As its a catchy bugger of a track, it sticks in your mind.

all I remember about school dicos was waiting for them to play madness so we could all leap around like nutty boys ! :clap2:

the night Frankie Valii remains a firm fave for Mr and Mrs Zef though
