Would it be harsh to say that if you can't go 2 hours without smoking then you should have a look at your addiction and try to get it sorted?

The club i would think wouldnt be able to open a exit due to the potential of people without tickets getting into the ground, people dont need to smoke at grounds its 2 hours ffs, seriously if ya cant go 2 hours without a fag, then you have a serious smoking problem.

Also i think not only the FA rule, but also the Country's rule would ban this, if ya cant smoke on a platform of a train station then i don't see how you would be able to smoke legally at a football ground.

I am a smoker, however after everything the club has done for us, I think it is disrespectful to even think about having a cigarette in our new home.

The club do need to re-consider letting those that want to go out at half time though.

Well the drinkers will be targetted next; & then the pie eaters; & then....

After a few home games now almost everytime i go to the gents someone is smoking in the cubicle. Has anybody else noticed this? Can people not wait 2 hours for a fag?

There was a queue of 8 people to use the bog just because of a gimp having a fag in there.

Yes i am a smoker. :tantrum:

I don't understand why the club just open an exit or two at H/T (with some portable barriers around them & a few stewards to keep an eye out for ticketless types who might be attempting to sneak in)? At least people who do want to smoke could make an informed choice - rather than reverting to behaviour akin to school playtimes. I mean, do they refuse to let people out & back in again at the theatre during the interval?

Why should the club pay for stewards to monitor people smoking? If you cannot last the duration then there is a serious problem. Let the stewards know where it is happening

:smokin::smokin:If i was with my kids i wouldnt be happy, the club should look at a smoking area outside the ground, some smokers cant take the tension of watching football without a snout.

i don't smoke but don't understand why we all penned in at half time,
a disabled fan found it very hard to cope with the humidity in the concourse at the black pool game.
surely it wouldn't hurt just to open the doors for 15 minutes

i fail to see your point, there not banned from grounds smoking is.

and a good reason for it is this

Well maybe you need to think a bit more about the point I was making.

Oh, & I'd imagine the link you provided shows the dreadful fire at Valley Parade? Thankfully, modern concrete stadia is a damned sight more fireproof than the old wooden constructions, but I digress. The reality is that whether you like it or not, some people will still smoke inside stadiums (albeit in the toilets) - regardless of the effect on others. Shirley by offering a practical solution to this issue - whereby the aforementioned nicotine addicts can go outside at H/T - is the sensible option??

Well I'm pretty sure there'll be plenty of stewards who will be twiddling their wotsits during the interval, so they're being paid anyway. And there are a good number who smoke themselves - so I doubt if they would object to keeping an eye out.

I haven't smoked in the ground because what's the point of risking getting chucked out and possibly a ban for having a fag? The club should think about a smoking section of the ground or just open the doors to people at HT for one.

Laws dictate you can't have a public "smoking section" in the stadium. but agree they should open up some doors so you can have one outside at half time.

I can't think of any way of policing it to prevent people without tickets getting "back" in - hard enough with paper tickets but with the cards it would be even more impossible. You could have a small fenced off area for smokers, but then a) would it actually count as being outside the ground?, and b) wouldn't help people like your friend as it would have to be small and would be so full of smokers it'd probably be way more uncomfortable than the concourses.

This is a great Opportunity for a ATC question asking if they could open the doors at half time for smokers as this would relive the queuing for the toilets.

I doubt a smoker would have time to leave his seat in the WSU at half time, go down all those stairs, have a tab, and then WHEEZE his way back upstairs in time for the start of the 2nd half. He'd be a sweating, spluttering MESS making a noise like an asthmatic pit-pony by the time he got back to his seat.

Find this a little difficult to believe, i assume if caught they will then banned form the stadium.
Would be interesting to get the clubs policy on those that break the no smoking policy and what the penalties are.

Oh I don't know, if he can afford to sit up there he can probably cough-up (no pun intended) for his own paramedic, or at the very least an attendant from St John Ambulance to revive him during his return!
