Slaugham - how is it pronounced?

This has always stumped me. I only ever see the sign on that snakey bit of the A23 and never visited. Anyway, is it SLORM or SLOFFOM or SLARM or SLOCKEM or SLAWHEM or some other way?

Cheers. So it is Sluffem or Slaffem or Sloffem depending how strong your old mid-Sussex accent is. I think I'll go for Sluffem. It works best for my Brighton accent.

On the same road - what about Warninglid? I always though the 'lid' was pronounced like 'saucepan lid', but some more snobby types say it's pronounced more as 'warning - glide', despite the absence of the magic 'e' at the end.

This is the correct one. My family are buried there (three generations) I was resident for 45 years.
