Nope West Hoathlee. But lets wait for WestHoatlySeagull to confirm

No need to wait for him!!

I lived there for ten years and played football for the village team. Definitely West Hoathlee. Or West Oaflee as some of the local lads used to pronounce it.
We are the Oaflee Boys
We make a lot of noise
We know our manners
We spend out tanners
We are respected wherever we go!

I was born and bred in Worthing and always have known Teville Road and Teville Gate as pronounced as in TEA but Adam Virgos Shirt along with all her friends on Splash FM and also Radio Sussex traffic reports call it TEV as in Tevez. The same with Tarring village and road I have always known Tarring as in tat but Splash FM etc call it as in TARring.

The democratic and free EU
It's George Bernard Shaw.

GH - as in "enough"
O - as in "women"
TI - as in "nation"

GHOTI = fish.

Alternatively, it is completely silent:

GH - as in though = '_____'
O - as in people = '_____'
T - as in ballet = '_____'
I - as in business = '_____'

GHOTI = _____________

Theres a place in Crowborough called Slaughams Ghyll. An old boy I once worked with(who,if he were still around, would be well over 100)possessed one of the thickest Sussex accents I've ever heard. He pronounced it as Slorms but wrote it as Slaughtermans. Did the name change due to the accent, then the spelling change due to mapmakers & councillors not having the same accent?

It amuses me when people pronounce Horsted Keynes as Horsted Keens. These people are normally lost or "not from round 'eer"

It is usual to pronounce it Horsta Kanes.

And to back up a previous poster, Ardingly is pronounced Ardinglee by idiots only.
