the more i think about it the more villa move could happen
Big club , high profile manager , making signings that show statement of intent + loads of money and a chance to be the main man still
I really don't think that's true. I think Aston Villa under Steven Gerrard have every chance of rivaling Leicester, West Ham and Tottenham for 5th - this season. Next season, with continued investment, they could be a real threat to the top 4. Gerrard's the real deal and their investment seems particularly wise. They're a very real threat at the top end of the table.
It's a game of opinions. That's why we love it.

I totally agree and only time will tell either way. I am curious though - do you not rate Steven Gerrard as a manager? Or is it more wishful thinking that we'll develop faster than them?
What exactly has Gerrard done that is impressing some of you so much? Is winning the Scottish Premiership in a two horse race when one of the horses was lame what convinced you?
I have not seen anything that makes the massive hype about him convince me that he deserves the outstanding manager plaudits being bandied around
Convince me

Exactly. Like it or not, Villa are a club with a bigger profile than us - though many on here just won't have it. If Biss moves for £50M and doubles his wages now, he still has every chance of moving for a lot more (and another indecent wage hike!) in 12 or 18 months time

Really? Here it is for you:

There are a handful of players who have been worth the money spent (Martinez, Watkins, McGinn, maybe Cash and Targett) but that is against an incredible turnover of players and an average spend of £100m a season in the last 5 years, with little coming back the other way apart from Grealish. And that’s just transfer fees, it doesn’t cover wages etc.
Read down that list of dross they have bought, McCormack, Wesley, Gestede etc, and tell me that this shows wise investment! For every good player they have bought, there are several that they have wasted money on and got rid of for peanuts!
Whatever you say about Gerrard, his does have nice hair. That alone should be enough to allow him to shrug off any criticism!
It's easy to dismiss anyone's achievements as if they're irrelevant but winning a league title is particularly difficult. His Rangers team was unbeaten in the league in winning the title, that's one hell of an achievement and rarely happens across the world. Having no competition makes going unbeaten even more impressive, they didn't need to maintain such a high standard but they did.
I don't need to try and convince you, we'll see what happens for the rest of the season. On another night, Villa win comfortably at Old Trafford to go along with the good league form. In truth, going out of the FA Cup is probably actually to their benefit.
Going back to McCormack is incredible. Would you criticise the current Brighton recruitment team for the singing of Leon Best or Leroy Lita?

So we tell him if he doesn't want to stay with us and sign a new contract for silly money, we will make him run his contract down and he can play with the U23s until he goes, or we offer him a couple of million bonus to sign a new new contract with the agreement we sell him to a super club therefore we get the full £50 million, he gets a couple of million from us up front and a larger slice of the £50 million transfer fee. Everyone's a winner.
