We have players in the pipeline who will go one and be top players who need a chance in CM and may turn out to be just as good.
I’m not sure I’ve ever read Biss being Fernandinho’s replacement. But if that’s the case so be it.
Ithere comes a time when you take the money and give a chance to someone else.
I think this is all true. However it may be the case that someone at Villa can persuade him that they are going to take the next step in the near future.
To be honest the Coutinho signing (albeit a loan), the Bissouma signing itself and the possibility of Dinge all represent fair evidence that the club is moving forward.
£50m is not the problem. Good price because of the contract situation. Think Tony would say yes to that.
But I just cant see Bissouma making a sidewards move like that. Villa can pay him well, but most likely not what the top clubs could and I think if Biss and his agent have any kind of patience they will wait for a better team. I wouldnt be massively shocked if he moved to Villa but I would be surprised.
Someone mentioned in the thread that Villa are likely to play in Europe in a few seasons thanks to money and the master mind of Gerrard... well, feels like I've heard for 22 years of watching the PL that Everton and Aston Villa are soon going to play in Europe, win cup titles and this and that and it has very rarely been true. As for Gerrard his time in Rangers was impressive but PL is a different beast and it is just too early to know how it is going to work out.
He surely won't go to a club that can't even get through to the 4th round of the FA Cup
I've resigned myself to him going within the next 12 months. Been a wonderful player to watch, but he should be at a top side.
Personally think he's exactly what Man Utd are crying out for - far better than McTominay/Matic/Fred.

£50 million for a player who has 18 months of a contract left is a lot of money. If Villa want to part with that you would take it, makes no sense not to. If the club know something we don’t about his contract situation then obviously they won’t accept it, but if he does sign on I’m sure there will be a release clause ref champions league clubs for around the same money or a little higher.
Either way I don’t think we can lose on this one.

So we tell him if he doesn't want to stay with us and sign a new contract for silly money, we will make him run his contract down and he can play with the U23s until he goes, or we offer him a couple of million bonus to sign a new new contract with the agreement we sell him to a super club therefore we get the full £50 million, he gets a couple of million from us up front and a larger slice of the £50 million transfer fee. Everyone's a winner.
That time most certainly is not the January window when you are in 8th and directly competing against Villa for prize money and an outside shot at Europe.
If we get a big bid in the summer I've no doubt Tony won't stand in his way. But Biss's next move needs to be to a side who will win major trophies, not another "Other 14" side with a bit more money.
Brighton will play in Europe before Villa.
