What could possibly go wrong here?

Ms Rayner said because housing plans were "not up to local communities", this led to "some of the challenges we face".
"Communities are absolutely right that not only do you need the homes but you also need the infrastructure as well," she added.
"I will force local communities to come up with a local plan about 'ok, how are we going to provide the houses that we need locally'. They will be part of forming that plan."

:lolol::laugh:
Affordable, appropriate housing, with accompanying infrastructure gets built? With a consensual community approach?

Sir Edward Troup. Sounds like he has all the charm of, oh maybe Angela Rayner. I wonder if his views have changed over the years about 'codgers', a term I find bloody insulting. Hopefully we'll find out before votes are cast.

The shills are out in force on X, posting merrily, that as Andy Burnham is PCC for Manchester, Rayner has already ‘got away’ with it.
Thereby, sowing doubt on her innocence no matter what the outcome. Who remembers Jeremy Hunt, and his flats? He didn’t.
You're beginning to make me feel a bit right wing :lolol:

These really are the end of (tory) days, though, aren't they?

Either Angie will not be prosecuted and convicted, or she will resign. The Labour way (for now). As you and others note, rather different from the troughing, grifting and having 'nothing to apologize for, but I am sorry that you found my actions offensive' on the blue side of the house.

I took a look at the rules for determining your primary home a few days ago and they’re very weak. What I read suggested living in a place for just 2 years out of 5 can be sufficient and you do not count times when you’re away with work…..which she spends a lot of time doing. I have no idea of the truth of the matter but she must surely be about to find a way to fit within these wishy washy rules….as will most people.

I don’t believe for one moment she will be prosecuted, however her very clear “I’ve done nothing wrong” proclamations will surely come back to haunt her.
TBF she is no loss to Keir, she’s not very bright, isn’t liked by many (she was a sop to the Corbynistas) so it will be a case of resign move on and then win the election.

Difficult to say but my gut feeling is a year or so into power and this nonsense will be forgotten. If this is the best the Tory smear campaign can come up with then Labour are doing well.

We’re taking the piss but good on Manchester police for solving all the other crimes to be able to spare so many for this issue.

Or maybe they’re just trying to work out what it is they’re actually supposed to be investigating?

Probably a good idea, particularly if they take ownership of the rolling stock whilst they are at it.
Will probably ensure a Labour win because most people won't look into the details. I'd imagine we might end up with the sort of public transport we have in London.

Very good day for announcements yesterday, Yvette Cooper making a lot of sense regarding police spending and now long overdue action on the Railways. Better, cheaper, no strikes … count me on board 👍

They've said they won't take control of the rolling stock.

That's the difficult/expensive bit.

"Re-nationalising the railways" looks eye-catching, certainly, but with the rolling stock companies remaining highly leveraged and privately owned, they're going to struggle to make any impact on fares.
