Mark Chapman should be promoted from MOTD2.

Innoffensive. Wry. Not annoying. Knows his stuff, but doesn't take it all too seriously. I like him.
This would be the obvious and common sense scenario. In fact I actually prefer the dynamic that Chapman has with the pundits on MOTD2 in comparison to MOTD which can feel all a bit too chummy at times.

I’d like Adrian Chiles back on MOTD2. His deadpan Brummy delivery on the Two Good Two Bad section was always tv perfection. As a fan, he ‘got’ it.

Lineker will be snapped up by another broadcaster in no time because he's good and quite witty. Keys and Gray are still around somewhere.

No doubt. But I’m glad he’s decided to call it a day. It does seem that these past few seasons he’s just going through the motions, which is to be expected after 25 years.

Plus with every passing week he does look more and more like a tortoise that’s been dressed in a tight black shirt.

Sounds like its on his terms. He's signed an 18 month deal to cover next season and the World Cup, so its not a case of the BBC binning him off.
Plus he's been working for other broadcasters for years now. He's going out to stud.

“Good evening. Six games and 30 goals including a genuine Goal of the Season contender on Match of the Day tonight…”

I don't mind him as a presenter, but I've had 3 or 4 separate people say he's a complete pest with the ladies. This was maybe 15 years ago mind!

I remember the exchange below with the very credible and likable Joey Barton. Gary did go a bit quiet after it though......

Fresh look to important footie programme after 25 years is not indifferent news to me but if it’s so indifferent to you, why bother posting?
Because I wouldn't call it 'great'

Only one candidate in my opinion,

Rory Jennings.

Probably do it for what he’s worth, a pittance, and wouldn’t piss off all the gammons with his political views.

Would make Danny Murphy and Martin Keown interesting by comparison, and, we would always be on last, unless he could get us banned as ‘insignificant’.

Sign him up!

It will probably be Paddy McGuinness. Bring him in to ruin another long running BBC show.
