Geoff Hurst scored at hat-trick in a WorldCup Final that we won.

David Beckham scored a free kick against Greece.
As I pointed out he deserves one for all the extra activities he's carried out. Didn't you read that bit?

I reckon just leave him to carry on the hard work for now, he's still young at the moment. I'm sure he'll be knighted some point down the line if he keeps up his level of involvement in supporting the English game.

Yep. Just pointing out why GH got his.

Oh and yes he is a brilliant role model; when nit cheating on his wife with his children's nanny.

Yes. Great role model, does loads of work for UK sport and charity, and I admire the hard work and enthusiasm he put in to try and get in the England world cup squad, even though at 35 it would have been much easier for him to stay in LA counting his cash.

Well said

I must be the only person who sees all these extra activities he is carrying out as part of a media stunt to keep brand Beckham in the papers and therefore keep his market value up when it comes to sponsorship. He didnt go to the US to "improve the game" over there, he went over for the lure of the dollar and now finds himself doing what ever he can to keep himself in the papers

Gotta say I agree. Nothing against the guy, but for me he and his wife these days are aging luvvies driving their own brand. Part of yesteryear's teams and no longer relevant to the current team, along with a few others I could add. Time for the country to move on I'm afraid.

Way out west
Geoff Hurst scored at hat-trick in a WorldCup Final that we won.

David Beckham scored a free kick against Greece.

There is a big difference though, Geoff Hurst was carried off the field on the shoulders of fans after winning the World Cup, David Beckham often found himself carrying ten other players for 90 minutes during his games.

For services to football there is no doubt in my mind that David Beckham deserves a knighthood, he will get it one day, but might have to wait a while...my guess is that he might be one of the first up the steps of the Palace around the time William is our king.

I literally couldn't disagree more.

He's the pretty face fronting the substance as per usual.
That's pretty tough.
The fact is, he doesn't have to be that 'face'.
Sure he gets plenty of deals in the back of it, but when it comes to jingoistic 'your country needs you', he is absolutely the very 1st person in line.

Professionally he's been shat on, numerous times, but has never said 'f**k you, play SWF, see if I care'.
And if the nation needs selling, Olympics, W/Cup, pooh loads of charities, he's your man.

I love Becks, and have done ever since the Greece game.
I doubt there will be a more deserving footballer (Craig Bellamy aside) for a fair few years to come.

I have to say I like Beckham. He seems a good egg, a good ambassador for football, and doesn't act like a prima donna, but why should he be knighted? He's spent his whole life doing something he loves and has made a fortune out of it. I've spent my whole working life working hard for very little, sometimes in roles I hate, so maybe I should be knighted. No offence to DB but I think knighthoods would be more fitting for war heroes, or someone who has really put their life on the line for what they believe in. Sorry, just a mini rant!

he does a shit load of work that benefits a lot of other people, who cares if he's doing it for publicity? he's still doing a really good thing

Although you can’t question Beckham’s passion for English football he has already hinted he may apply for US citizenship. LA Galaxy will not start playing again until next March so he can spend time in the UK but I think he will spend increasingly more time in the US even if he doesn’t apply for citizenship. He likes the lifestyle and the easy money in the US and he can be with all his new Hollywood buddies.

He was a class player for which he made a very good living, good to note that he works hard for charity but a Sir I think not,if he should receive this honour it would make his missus a lady,I rest my case.
