Yes but the wise and wealthy neighbour isn't the EU.
I have always said we can learn a lot from our mainland cousins. They get a lot of simple and fundamental things right in the eurozone......to me they are wise.

problem with referendum's are the media flood the electorate with its usual xenophobic, EC destroying jobs, straightening your banannas rhetoric and generally confuses on purpose its audience.
To me losing the sterling is no big thing, having a European Central Bank instead of a Bank of England directing the economy is also not a big deal.
