can someone answer a simple question for me ,
a lot of people on here are totaly against fox hunting because its cruel (so they say) not because of all the nobs all dressed up , and all the rich fuckers that hunt(so they say)
so are you really telling me that putting a live maggot or worm on a hook (not cruel) then dropping this baited hook in front of a fish , then letting the fish fight against a rod , line ,angler and the big hook in its throat is (not cruel ) is ok, the fish is then dragged onto the shore or river bank where it is dispatched , now before you say we eat the fish , what about the 100s of makeral that are caught off the piers in the summer , thrown in a bin liner to go rotten before being dumped .
no i am sorry like it or not if the working class went fox hunting none of the antis on here would be antis , its all about the upper crust , sad bunch some of you lot .
by the way i have never hunted foxes , but love fishing !!!

i didnt think anyone would answer

Foxhunting is to politics what Jedward are to reality TV: totally divisive and polarising without actually having any real impact on daily life.

It angers me that so much time is wasted on this subject, in particular police time. Anecdotal evidence suggests the ban is being ignored, but I doubt whether Cameron will have the balls to lift it completely. We really have more important things to think about as a nation than hunting, the Olympics and overspending Premiership football clubs.

:thumbsup:

as the law is both unenforced and (in every practical sense) unenforcable it really is irrelevant

I have no problem with people knocking off the odd fox, they are hardly endangered and keep me up at night.

However I do wish the pro-hunting lobby would be a bit more honest with people who know nothing about the sport, because it is a sport after all.

If you are going to breed an animal like a hound for the specific purpose of killing another, run it into the
ground and (because it has little other use) put a bullet in his head at approximately half of its natural life span at least be honest about it.

They did make me laugh when they tried to tug on the animal loving British peoples heart strings, sobbing about how many horses and hounds would be put down because the banning of hunting.

Before the ban was in place they were incredibly effective at putting down thousands of animals prematurely every year themselves.

I am anti fox hunting, on the principle that it is cruel and nothing to do with the social class of those involved, if you want to use the pest control argument then at least do it quickly in a humane manner that causes little suffering to the animal...I will never be convinced that being chased around the countryside for half an hour and then being torn apart by a pack of dogs is anything other than unnecessary and somewhat cruel.

As for the fishing debate, I have only fished a couple of times and that was to catch something to eat, not purely as a sport. While we are on the subject, I would quite happily go out and shoot rabbits, which many consider as a pest, but only for the pot...rabbit and prune stew is a Belgian delicacy and a personal favourite of mine.

I find it interesting that the debate surrounds cruelty towards the fox rather than the controlled breeding and destructing of an animal for the purposes of killing another for entertainment.

Perhaps the pro-hunting lobby need to educate us.

Perhaps because many of us were unaware until now of the way hunting dogs were treated, I have to say that did shock me somewhat, the pro-hunting lobby bang on about all the good they do in conserving and protecting the countryside.

Do you really need someone to explain the thread to you or is it just your helpers day off?
You made an irrelevant point about purdey shotguns, what , apart from shotguns very,very occasionally being used to finish a fox do they have to do with the thread ?let me tell you, nothing, and you're avoiding answering and trying to divert attention from this because it will make you look a cock, ok ?

No, I made a lighthearted post about stag shooting which is what the shotguns referred to. That said I assume you know what lamping is and that is the main legal way of dealing with foxes? Try avoiding the Devils Dandruff and you'll come over as less of a humourless oaf.

MFHA - Masters of Foxhounds Association - Methods of fox control

Following the ban on hunting with dogs there are now only two legal methods of controlling foxes.
Shooting (with (a) rifle or (b) shotgun);
Trapping (with legal snares or live cage traps).
Terriers may also be used to flush foxes from below ground to be shot but only to protect game birds that are being preserved to be shot.

Illegal methods of killing foxes include:

Gassing (it is not gassing that is illegal, but there are no legal gasses);
Poisoning;
Illegal trapping (using illegal snares and gin traps), and now include
Hunting with hounds, and Terrier work.

Too far from the sun
My next door neighbour has a dog, who is a really nice chap and a perfect family pet, however in this instance I will state that I consider him a pest because he occasionally barks loudly (this is the defence that the fox hunting fraternity use to justify their actions)...so, I get on my bike (I don't own a horse) don my yellow walking jacket (no self respecting Albion fan would ever wear a red jacket) and chase said dog around town...until he is so knackered that he can't run anymore, which could take some time as he is a springer spaniel...then I jump off my bike and tear him apart with my teeth, hopefully killing him quickly so he doesn't suffer unduly.
At last, a truly imaginative solution to the problem of too much dog crap on the pavements. Gets my vote! :thumbsup:

I love the fact you are allowed to use a Terrier but only the basis to protect something else which is going to be shot anyway.

I earned my brown wings on a girl who was into Fox Hunting. Her Father was an arrogant, self important twat, her mum a posh twat who was gagging to be bent over a skip and f***ed by some rough handed bricky and the girl herself was a twat. I f***ed her in her stables once, with her dad outside washing the car, after fingerblasting her I wiped my digits on his wingmirrors.

"Love anal sex - hate foxhunting", that's what my grammy used to say.

Pork pie land.
In one word...

YES!

Banning it was a complete sop to the left wing, as "New Labour" tried to retain its support the working class flat cap wearers.
