Would be a nice nod to him, but as a new manager it would be understandable if Tuchel wants to focus forwards - Liam Delap, perhaps.

Here's what Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler said, speaking on ITV1 about his chances of being called up for England later this month:

"That's not my job!

"I think you have a really good coach in Thomas Tuchel, so he will make the decision.

"It's maybe possible, but it's not my decision.

"The only thing I can say is I'm really happy to work with him. He's a great leader, a great role model and a great player.

"He really worked hard when he came into the match. He had his impact on the game, he changed it."

Despite what you may have heard Danny is only 2 1/2 years older than me and yes, I'm renouncing my American citizenship.

And risk an injury in meaningless games against Albania and/or Latvia?

Nay, nay and thrice nay!

They're World Cup qualifiers, not meaningless games. I'm going!

Now that doesn't mean that he couldn't get injured in them, but he could equally be injured in Albion training. Stuff happens.

Getting picked for a squad doesn't mean that he'd end up playing.

In fairness, we tend to have this every time an Albion player gets picked for AFCON, Copa America or the Asian Cup.

We can't wrap Albion players up in cotton wool all the time. Do you think he'd want to be picked? Like any player not called Ben White, of course!

Do I think he will be picked? No. But his form is such that he's deservedly in the frame.

Actually, it wasn't. The interviewer asked him if there was a better 34 year old striker in England. He took that as a reference to an England call up.

We love Danny, and he's playing well for us. But if picked for England you can guarantee the story from top6/England fans & parts of the media will be that he's past it, and the England squad must be in a shit situation if Danny Welbeck is being picked. & I wouldnt want Danny being sent into that sort of toxic unsupportive environment.

Bang! And the dirt is gone.
For Danny's happiness, yes. He is good enough for the squad given current options. But, from an Albion perspective, absolutely not. He is too important to risk fatigue and injury. He makes such a difference for us - a proper focal point for our attack, and he can finish. And I know Evan needs minutes, but he could be learning an awful lot from Danny in training every day still.

Yes.

Anyone saying 'no' either haven't read the question properly or seen Danny Welbeck recently

Thomas Tuchel should not only pick Danny Welbeck, but also start him.

I prefer if he doesn't, but the question is if he should be picked, not if I want it or not.

How is Evan learning every day in training when he is with another club ?

Absolutely not. Far too valuable to us and he isn't going to get less fatigued and less susceptible to injury the older he gets.

First. Forget the selfish shit about not wanting him to be called up. He's done enough for us, that he should have our full support should he get the call.

Second, is he good enough? Well. Tuchel, will presumably play with one striker. That means 2 or 3 of them in a 23 man squad. Let's say 3.

So then, you have to look at the competition. Kane and Watkins are both playing and are undisputed first and second for the 9 jersey. So can Danny sneak in to get a third striker spot? I think unlikely. We're still over a year from the world cup, Delap is surely the coming man and is more than a decade younger. I'm not sure Toney has completely given up on playing international football, (but I guess going to Saudi is the same thing).

I think Danny only has a chance if one or two of those ahead of him are injured. Even then, Tuchel might fairly say that he's too old and wants to find a younger player to bring through
