We love Danny, and he's playing well for us. But if picked for England you can guarantee the story from top6/England fans & parts of the media will be that he's past it, and the England squad must be in a shit situation if Danny Welbeck is being picked. & I wouldnt want Danny being sent into that sort of toxic unsupportive environment.
They'd be right. We love Danny, but if he was playing for Bournemouth and was suddenly picked for England we would be scratching our collective heads. He's 34 and he won't be playing in the World Cup next year. Remember, Tuchel only has a contract for the World Cup - he'll be single-minded toward that objective, and Welbs won't be part of that tournament

For Danny's happiness, yes. He is good enough for the squad given current options. But, from an Albion perspective, absolutely not. He is too important to risk fatigue and injury. He makes such a difference for us - a proper focal point for our attack, and he can finish. And I know Evan needs minutes, but he could be learning an awful lot from Danny in training every day still.
Not sure Evan will learn much from Danny at the West Ham training ground 🤷‍♂️

Personally – no, I couldn't give a shite about England, so I'd want him as fit as possible for Brighton. However, for him, I think it would be a nice bit of recognition of his performances and that he would be delighted.

If Danny was managing the numbers that Kane, Delap and Watkins have managed over the last couple of years and if he was currently fit enough to start, (which he may be, I don't know), then he could be in the conversation.

But I just don't see it

He'd be the oldest English scorer at a World Cup final since Tom Finney in 1958 (36 years 2 months).
Klose, Giroud, and of course Messi have been older or thereabouts scorers at recent World Cup Final than Welbeck in summer 2026. (he'll be 35,, 7 months then. )

If the WC finals were this summer, and Kane and Watkins were serious injury doubts, then yes. Although for obvious reasons Tuchel isn't interested in the long term after the WC finals, I still think he more likely go for younger players who can make themselves into a long term prospect - like Delap.
From Danny's POV I'm sure he'd like the honour, but he's got a decent haul of England caps already, so shouldn't feel too disappointed if he isn't called up.

I selfishly want to keep him for us, but he’s worthy of very strong consideration and I’m sure he would love to be back in the fold
Not sure I could see Dat Guy in the clobber you linked to there, mate...
