Well we certainly could have done with him last season instead of Baker Boatey and Duffus from the bench, who weren't ready and did little.

He seemed to play on the inside left for Ipswich last season which really suited him.
Their left wing back ran the wing (and got the most assists in the Championship) whilst Jeremy was tucked in more centrally and looked very good on the number of occasions I watched him. However, he does seem so similar to Enciso in style. But if we start sending teenagers like Osman and Minteh on loan, he’ll certainly be needed.

Sarmiento is a quality young player who now has a decent amount of international experience.
He's the type of player who still has loads of potential, and with a new manager arriving I think the club will be keen to see how JS performs under him.
He could well turn into a very good asset.
If he departs from Brighton it will only be late in the transfer window or January, and for a top price with a high percentage sell-on fee.
My belief is that he will become a much valued member of our young squad this season, although not necessarily a starter initially.

Did little? Well, what do you expect them to have done in about 20 minutes playing time between them? - and Duffus didn't even play a single PL minute!
Seriously though, yes, Sarmiento might have been a useful sub at times (as he certainly was for Ipswich!) but maybe the experience he got out on loan was worth more development-wise.
Generally very true - but I don't think the odd occasion when it might have been useful to have Sarmiento on the bench really counts as an 'if only' moment though. Robinson passing the ball to Smith, on the other hand........................................"If only......if only......if only everything could have been completely different"

It was meant as a comment on those (not you) whose response to a small setback or an unexpected turn of events appears to be to want everything that has happened to have been completely different, all the time. I've used it before. With repetition will come apprehension

There were multiple times last season we needed width and a distuptor, but RDZ didn't use Baker Boatey so - in effect we were a player light on the bench. You say Sarmiento was better out on loan, but he wasn't playing for the Baggies and was usually sub for Ipswich. A couple of goals and assists from Sarmiento could have made the difference of a top 10 finish / meeting Tony's goal and 11th spot/ finishing behind Palace.
The Baggies weren't using him - that's why we took him off them. He certainly made a good contribution to Ipswich's promotion, so decent development experience there. RDZ decided not to use BBB - OK, his choice.

If you look at Hurzerler's system, he prefers to have one winger that plays wide, one winger that plays closer to the striker as a number 10.
Having Sarmiento and Buonanotte who can do that on the left/right respectively would be really good for depth.

It looks like his main objective is to get minutes. Ipswich most likely to use him as an impact sub.

22 now, really needs to be kicking on and become an established first teamer. I really hoped it would be with us, still do, as there's definitely a player there. Far too good for Aberdeen or Cardiff IMHO.

Is JS even back with the team training yet? Hard for Hurzeler to say if he'll get minutes if he's not even met him.
