Wouldn't bother me either way. We have stood at the back or the North for as long as I can remember.
Best thing about moving from West Upper to midway up the north stand this season is that I can stand all game

So obviously you don't subscribe to the evidence that a loud partisan section of the crowd can lift a home team and promote better results. Better results are better for the club's league position and business. Currently those who want to generate an atmosphere are too widely dispersed in the North Stand and a rail seating section would offer the chance to concentrate them.
This is not far from the truth.Because NSC is made up of bad fans and armchair fans (most of whom are also fat, elderly men who couldn't stand for 45 minutes). The proper fans that travel away do want a standing section
Put safe standing in, football is awash with money.
If you want to view from safe standing opt to do that as your choice, if you want to sit down then opt for that instead.
Going by the large numbers that stand when away anyway, there is sufficient home demand.
Oh and change the batcrap daft law so you can have a beer in view of the pitch.......like other sports.
Make that only available in safe standing areas though (extra revenue)..............wonder what the demand would be then.......
Of course, it could be replaced by people getting bruised jumping against the rail for the seats!!!
I don't agree that our supporters don't want it; it depends who you ask and how you phrase the question.
If you included people in the East Stand, West Stand and the wings of the North Stand in the survey then the majority would say no. However, if you directed the question to "Brighton supporters who want to stand and sing" then you would easily get 2,000 people who would go for it.
Sorry but thats bobbins. You might recall we had standing at the Goldstone, and finished 91st.
Rail seating in the North Stand still doesn't mean you can just go and stand where you want, so the fans in the North would still be just as 0dispersed as they are now - the only difference being they'll all have a barrier to lean against if they want to.
So when are you going to organize the auditions for the standing area? I'm guessing that it will be a requirement of those in that area to sing loud and regularly and failure to do so could see your right to that area rescinded.
The back rows of the North Stand have always been standing on the basis the club are turning a blind eye. Converting that area to safe standing would mean the very same people would occupy the SS area. From the other recent thread, the only benefit from SS would be a fewer people getting bruised shins although I'm not sure how widespread that actually is. Of course, it could be replaced by people getting bruised jumping against the rail for the seats!!!
This is not far from the truth.
The fact that a large number in the NS and most Albion fans at away games CHOOSE TO STAND obviously demonstrates the basic demand.
The atmosphere at The Amex would be hugely enhanced by a new standing area at the West end of the NS and into the NW corner. Sitters displaced would mostly get the option of better NS seats more central and higher up.
Errr...no. Those who want to stand would apply for tickets in the rail seating section and those who want to sit would go to the seated areas. As has been done already at Celtic for example...
But none of that is happening. Barriers (or rails) will be waist high not shin high. People will still be in designated places so there won’t be any of the atmosphere of the old terraces.
But the people who will apply for rail seats will be those who want to stand and sing... Go on YouTube and lobserve the atmosphere generated at Dortmund and Celtic for e.g.
The Amex isn't Celtic or Dortmund and the installation of safe standing won't change that.
Exactly.
This notion that everyone standing in front of a rail seat will be making some kind of "wall of noise" is for the birds. It didn't happen with terraces, it wouldn't happen with this any more than it does now.
It really is quite simple. Taking Celtic as an example; they took a corner wedge of the home end and made it rail seating. If you wanted to stand and sing you applied for your season ticket to be moved into that section. If you preferred to sit you transferred out of that section.
Don't remember many people who done Spurs away a couple of seasons ago complaining about the rails in the away end.
