It's grim oop north
Love that we're doing it

Really hope the club still allows the whole north to stand with or without safe standing in row R and back

Seems very strange not to do the whole north just 10 rows at ths back

Either way hope they allow row R and forwards to still stand otherwise this will destroy the atmosphere not improve it

I think the club need to make a statement about expectations of whether the whole North Stand can stand or just the safe standing section - be interesting to see what it looks and feels like if ONLY the safe standing section can stand, maybe the club could ask for say first half of a match that happens, maybe Southampton is too soon but a game thereafter, a trial run anyone?

Why do they need to make a statement?

Why are people getting their knickers in a twist about this. The club have always said they can't justify the costs of safe standing but are now putting in a token amount in the North so that they can roll it out in other areas like the soon to be formed away area.

Did people in the non safe standing areas at Bournemouth sit? Where are the Albion going to get stewards from to police standing in the entire North Stand?

Just chill out and see what happens.

If the club do not have set intentions and expectations as a result of introducing the safe standing then why is it being installed?

Their intentions are quite clearly that the back 4 rows stand safely.

As for the rest, no reason to think it's not a case of as you were. But the club can't come out and say this as they'd be condoning breaking the law.

God, so much bet wetting about a simple matter. No wonder the club waited until everyone else went first.

The fact that the are doing it predominantly to avoid sanctions as fans are standing I would guess they may look to enforce seating in the lower rows.

I don't see how anybody thinks safe standing will improve atmosphere anyway

It's more about a few ageing zealots trying to recreate the long lost NS terracing vibe from the Goldstone. Like they're suddenly going to sing a bit louder now they'll have officially-sanctioned standing as opposed to doing the exact same thing they already do. TB must be wondering why he went to the trouble and expense of installing top-of-the-range comfy seats. Ungrateful urchins! :lolol:

exactly! They may have little option but to enforce it.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59908736 UK football policing lead Chief Constable Mark Roberts, who told the BBC that "if crowds are stood up, it's easier to throw missiles, engage in hate chanting, racism, sneak alcohol in, take cocaine". I was surprised to read that - it's bad enough no bottle tops what next water fountains and no bottles?

True that, just can't be arsed to yell racist slurs at opposition players when I'm seated

It's funny, the filth that comes out of my mouth when I'm seated, high on coke is disgusting but as soon as I stand I'm like an angelic choirboy. I don't think that copper knows what he's talking about 😄

In all seriousness, I know it's from a couple of years ago but even so what a bone headed comment from a chief constable.

I always thought the great attraction of standing was to congregate with your mates and be able to move away from wankers. You can’t easily do that when you have an allocated seat.

That would be absolutely shit considering the whole north has largely stood (safely) for years
