everyone stands (apart from very front row) anyway and the rails will DECREASE the space on the terracing so am I missing something, how will it become SAFER than what it already is?

Something Im not sure has been considered will it increase standing elsewhere i.e. nearby lower seated areas or reinforce seating because if you wanna stand you have a dedicated area?

The safety is in having a rail in front of you to hold you in place rather than falling on the person in front. It should not decrease space because the seat will be flipped up so you stand where the seat was.

No way will the atmosphere be increased due to this as rows R to the last row stand already. You probably need at least half the rows to be standing to increase the atmosphere.

Do we think they've decided to make only part of the stand a safe standing area because STHs in other areas voted against the initiative? Or is this incrementalism and the intention is to eventually extend safe standing to the entirety of the stand?

Should do, the seats are still there at the Gtech and that's the model the club are using

It will reduce the space. I either move forwards or backwards to let people past and there is just enough space, now I will have a bar in front and a bar behind restricting movement so I anticipate 35 minutes to half time when the pissheads go off to the bar, 45-55 minutes when they return and 80 minutes onwards a right paid in the arse.

f***ing hell the moaning on here is extraordinary. We're possibly the only club in the league without safe standing, and people are raising concerns that they can't climb over seats in the event of a fire!

Every away game where there is safe standing there is never a problem. It is a good thing and nothing to worry about.

I understand the argument 'people stand anyway' but I think it will make more of a difference than people think.

I'm an advocate of the whole north being converted over the next couple of seasons, it's around 10% of the home crowd and probably reflects the numbers of fans who would prefer to stand all game. If you want to sit but also sing head to the south

I'm glad we're at last moving (slowly) to adopt safe standing - just surprised it is only part of the North. I'm in Row N, and just about everyone seems to stand (as do many in rows further towards the front). I'm assuming the club decided that Row R would be the cut-off point on the basis that those further forward voted AGAINST safe-standing.....which implies that many of those (eg: in my row) who currently stand don't want safe standing!!

Hopefully we won't get stewards asking us Row N-ers to sit down. If this decision means only those from Row R back can stand, it would completely defeat the object (ie, it would definitely NOT improve the atmosphere).

No evacuation plan would ever include climbing over seats. The evacuation plan would be as now, which is to walk along your row and down the steps.

Not been an issue at any of the other grounds with it in my experience. The bars are maybe 1.5in thick max and the bar for the seat behind is usually attached to the sides of your seat - they don’t really impact the depth of your space at all.

There are plenty willing to move to a safe standing area if anyone doesn’t like the new arrangements and want to go elsewhere

So I am in the NS (lower rows) - as a tall person, I am always mindful of the people behind me not being able to see if I stand. Also, I am not able to stand for long periods, so this solution suits me perfectly as I am not opposed to safe standing at all.
