Yes, indeed it was.
I guess the article just points out that Russia constantly says the war is all because NATO threatens them
with invasion ....and now they've just withdrawn from that border.
That's a good point.

We could spend our whole lives pointing out the inconsistencies in Russian policy, and some of us give it a good go on here!

Maybe it's just a simple matter of Russia losing the war, and it feels the need to redeploy them to where they are needed - Ukraine.

Three news snippets to support this:

1. Putin recently gave a speech, in which he speculated on a strategic defeat for Russia.
2. Belousov attended a project to build some new barracks for a brigade, made a veiled threat to those in charge of the build to finish it on time, and said that 'soon people will be returning'. What did he mean?
3. A Russian soldier, injured in combat, was not allowed home leave. He posted a video, saying his unit contained others injured, one on crutches, who couldn't walk or fire a weapon.

Look beyond the bravado and faux confidence, and Russia is looking increasingly desperate. The signs are there.

Sorry I don't. I was going to post it yesterday (I think he made it in N Korea), then forgot to do it. I thought it was on Anton Gerashchenko's twitter account, but I can't find it now.

If I come across it, I'll post it.

Edit: I can't find the Gerashchenko tweet, but here is an article about it in the Kyiv Independent:

"For Russia, this means the end of its statehood... This means the end of the thousand-year history of the Russian state. I think this is clear to everyone,"

Er, no. It's clear that that is not the case, he just wants to frighten Russians into thinking they have no choice but to fight this war.

What would have been more accurate for Putin to say was:
"For Me, this means the end ... This means the end of my tyranny. I think this is clear to everyone,""

Yes, I remember that someone posted a reply to Gerashchenko's tweet (the one I can't find) that was similar to that.
But for me, the really interesting thing about the speech, was that Putin made it at all, and that it has been broadcast.

He is now discussing the possibility of a strategic defeat for Russia....

Nige bstd Farage today doubling down on a previous comment that poor ol Vlad was forced into invading Ukraine.
The West provoked Russia apparently
Just a reminder that Russians funding the hard right is not purely a European mainland phenomenon

Farage is in Trumps/Putins pocket. I am a Brit living in Estonia and I say that joining the EU and NATO was the best thing they ever did. People like Farage don't understand that they are not a part of 'old Russia'. They were an independent country with their own language and culture that was OCCUPIED by the Soviet Union for 50 years. During that time the Soviet bastards deported so many people from the Baltic states to Siberia.
Farage is a total see you next tuesday.

You might be reading too much into it. I hope not though.

Thanks!
As an aside...nice to see his face looking unhealthily puffy.
As another aside... F**k off, Vietnam.

There's a whole social media pile-in around that.

Is it actually him? Would he have risked his own life, which is obviously far worthier than those of his lookalikes, on a trip to dodgy North Korea and Vietnam?

I don't have a clue.

But what I suspect is, that as Russia's war begins to bite them in the backside, and all that they've held true since they invaded Ukraine, begins to crumble around them, then very, very strange things will happen. Some of which won't ever have been on our radar.

Just a bit worried that Putin courting certain countries ( along with the countries that voted a certain way the other day) is getting ready for WW3
There's a school of thought that the country that Russia's nukes pose the greatest threat to is Russia, i.e. the launch sites and the subs.

Not a hunch I would like to see tested of course, and there is no suggestion we can afford to be complacent, but we've had two and a half years of witnessing the combat-readiness of Russia's conventional weaponry. The maintenance of their nuclear arsenal is quite likely to be on a par with the maintenance of their conventional weapons.

I think this one was Putin.
There was an expose of one of his doubles some months back...different ear shape IIRC. Not sure I've got the comparison pics.
