In that yahoo graph above, the cliff-edge recoveries are presumably interventions, which are not working
That's the $64 million question. Will this ruble collapse end Putin ?
It collapses when market forces continue to drive down value and the Russians (or allies) can't afford to support. That's when things get interesting, and the slide will accelerate in that scenario, but at the moment it's pulled back again. Interesting to see what happens nextKnowing little of these things, is there a point at which the Russian economy suddenly collapses or is it a slow, inevitable decline ?
It won’t help his war effort, any weapons he imports have got 8% more expensive in the past few hours. The powerful oligarchs are losing wealth at an alarming rate, the Russian population will be finding that food will be more and more expensive in the shops. It increases the pressure on Putin from within Russia. Will this ruble collapse end Putin ?

Yes, I agree but those recoveries are fairly sudden. Things have stabilised a little for now, maybe 115 was a redlineIt'll often just be like a standard commodity, where people will think it's fallen enough and may recover a bit. Things rarely fall without any bouncing back along the way.
It wasn't just going to fall infinitely today, so at some point it had to stop.Yes, I agree but those recoveries are fairly sudden. Things have stabilised a little for now, maybe 115 was a redline
Agree totally. There's a difference between being objective in reporting and being stupid...and a lot of our media don't get that. Why does the bullshit, blatant propaganda claim that Biden is planning to give nuclear weapons to Ukraine being repeated in the mainstream media?! I hate the uncritical way that so-called journalists basically say 'Putin says...' and call that news.
