A Ukrainian man loses his wife and three daughters to a Russian missile. What does the Russian diplomat do? He smiles on hearing about it.

He is now probably on a list somewhere in Ukraine.

Doesn’t look like he was listening to what was being said at all……probably looking at porn on his laptop

I fundamentally disagree. He is absolutely listening to the Ukrainian woman's speech. I don't know if it is being translated into Russian, but he is listening.

As she says 'Russia will never be able to alter its authorship from the atrocities committed in Ukraine', a smile forms on his face and he looks across at her.

Play it again from 01:00 onwards.

He’s typing and looking at his screen most of the way through it……..

Neither of us know, so I’m not going to argue about it.

That doesn't indicate anything. Many people can multi-task. As I type this, I'm listening to Leeds* v Derby !

*Sorry.

Ukraine took out radar and anti-aircraft defence systems in Crimea a week or two ago. At the time, I thought they might be planning something.
Now they've used naval drones to attack gas rigs off Crimea, used by Russia for surveillance systems.
They may well be planning something, but there is another takeaway from this. Their actions suggest that they don't accept Crimea remaining in Russian hands for much longer.

I wonder if they've had a sniff of the contents of the peace deal?

You may very well be correct 👍🏼. I imagine the first carrot to be offered to Putin (by the US) could be: "yes, of course you can keep Crimea".
I don't really want to contemplate the second carrot...(Mariupol, south coast, Donbas...,).
I think I'm hoping Putin plays hardball and Trump arms Ukraine.

We'll know something soon I reckon. Taking out multiple defences on and around Crimea, the bridge may well be dropped before 20th Jan.

I hear you. But I did see an interview with a retired US general, who said he had heard, (among several other ideas mooted which he didn't relay) that - one - idea was Russia keeps Donbas, and Ukraine keeps the rest. But that was the one he voiced.

However, I assume it is/was all hearsay, that the General has heard about a 'leak' etc. Who knows? There are so, so many ways it could pan out. The prospect of no peace deal at all must be up there with the front-runners.

If - if - Crimea is to be returned to Ukraine, then the bridge must surely come down.

Where does a trip to the shops for food, become a matter of life and death?

Kherson. Drones are becoming the doodlebugs of this war. But these doodlebugs are much more deadly.

The world should make Russia stop this. We should quadruple our supplies to Ukraine.

It's ok, I contemplate it all the time.

Apart from wanting everything... Putin will want Crimea, the south coast along to the land bridge with Crimea, and as much of the Donbas (region overlaps Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts) as he can get.
I believe one reason he's had tacit support from a number of elites, is the promise of the mineral riches in the Donbas.

I know you know that (or similar), I'm just venting really - it makes me angry to even contemplate that could be in a "peace" agreement.

Every one of these targeted attacks on civilians is a war crime 😡
If I recall correctly, Kherson was occupied earlier in the war, and the civilians fought back as best they could. I remember seeing a few videos on it. Then Ukraine retook it. So this is targeted drone attacks by Russian troops (across the river?) on civilians.

It's revenge. They're doing it out of spite, because they failed to keep hold of Kherson. There is no military advantage to killing civilians. If there is any command and control in the Russian army, it certainly isn't putting a stop to these attacks.

But the world stands by & fails to condemn or do enough to stop it. I read about this some time ago & yet still nothing much has been reported. Where are the protest marches on the Russian embassies? It makes me very angry too.

Yes agreed. It's from across the river and 100% it is strategy from the top.

Well, this is very positive news (unless I'm missing something!).

It would seem so, yes.

A member of Trump's team gets a contract with Ukraine? Already? I assume there isn't a mirror contract with Russia...
Is this Trump and his team already doing the deals with a future Ukraine?

Does this augur well for the peace deal? Yes, I think it does.
