It would be an act of war, not a war crime;

I don't think that's correct. If you have a link to show that's it's not a war crime, fair enough.

Destroying the Third Reich - by whatever means - was a (legitimate) act of war, for instance, and not a war crime.

I don't even know where to start with that, it's completely wrong. Torturing people for information on the Third Reich was not legitimate, and was a war crime.

It's been a long day, but am I wrong I thinking the strikes will be limited to the Kursk region?

That's an interesting caveat. Putin did have 50,000 troops (some of whom are from North Korea) prepared to storm Kursk, so there's a lot of soldiers there to target. Zelenskyy did say he could destroy them in bulk if he was allowed to use the long range weapons. So if that's where they start getting used, it's not a bad start.

It's a really weird caveat though. If two options were that Ukraine can use the weapons to attack targets that are
a) attacking Ukraine
b) trying to retake Russian land
I'd have thought a) was easier to justify.

Whatever the weapons are used for, I hope they're successful.

Perhaps we can soon have the German Taurus as well for a full set.
Scholz has boxed himself in and praised himself for avoiding escalation and saying he wouldnt authorise German missiles for long range strikes........ but he's about to become a political footnote in history, his governement has collapsed, he will lose the confidence vote, his coaltion partners have broken rank and are publicly slagging him off, he got massive blowback for his call to Putin from leaders in all corners and today his own party the SPD said, "just because youre the chancellor, you should not assume you will be our nomination in next presidential race" SPD can also see he's a lame duck and will bin him off.

Plus the fact remains, that Merz leader of the CDU is miles out in front in the polls and has said he will supply and allow Taurus to be used in Russia.

So if its going to happen anyway and youre cruising to a career ending crushing defeat to the person that will do it, shirley it makes sense to reverse course and be the first to strike, it could actually be the only way you can save your presidency.

Bollocks. WWII was a legitimate fight for the allies. Unlike Putin's 'Special Military Operation' there was a genuine need to defeat fascism, and I'm damn glad our parents and grandparents did just that, and f*** any wet wimps who start whinging and wringing their hands about it.
