Realistically for Ukraine, that's probably the best they can hope for.

No it isn't. Russia cannot continue this war forever, maybe not for even 2 more years. They're losing too many troops, losing too much equipment, and their economy is kaput. If we support Ukraine and keep the sanctions on Russia, eventually they will have to stop, and if they want their economy back they'll have to leave.

I agree with you, except that I don't believe Trump will continue for 2 years to support the current levels of sanctions on Russia, and materiel support to Ukraine.

I don't know what would have happened in that scenario, but I'm pretty sure the US will talk tougher to Zelenskiy than they will to Putin. Big boys club and all that.
Trump is scared of hard men which Putin no longer is. He’s had to go cap in hand to NK. If Putin regime were to collapse during Trumps term of office then he would get massive kudos. It’s all about his ego ….

Yes I can believe that, and it is certainly all about ego with him.
Let's remember he hung his hat on ending the war in 24 hours, and living up to that is also ego driven.
This could fall in a number of directions.

Worrying times, Trump is literally immune from anything now, carte Blanche to do wtf he likes. Can see him pulling US out of NATO, internet will be a free for all, imagine if he assigned Musk to creating new weapons.. speculative I know but not that far fetched imo..
I'm sure Musk will be given huge responsibility on something, and he and Trump will be unpredictable, threatening and... goodness knows where things will go.
But to make a threat against NATO because of Twitter business/free speech issues is off the scale. I think random "threats" is the new normal.

Vindictive, self-centred, power mad, spiteful - but with a brain............... is Musk long-term a bigger danger than Trump?

Trump doesn't want to trade with Russia anyway, so why would he want to end sanctions?

Even if Ukraine have less support, I'm not sure how Russia could win.

Indeed. The two things are not related are they? It's revealing and also rather disturbing.

True, but he might threaten to end sanctions to get Ukraine to accept a compromise deal 🤔.
I don't know, everything feels very unpredictable!

I have no idea how that would work with the EU etc. And if I was Ukrainian, I'd simply want to say no. I'd never want to give in. France was occupied by the Nazis for 4.5 years - do they now wish half their country was given away? I don't see why Ukraine would ever accept it.

Yeah I know. He's not even in power yet, I wouldn't worry too much at the moment, I doubt we'll find out much this year.
