When they say "starting to feel like the wheels are coming off", I can't help thinking they've only just clocked the group of scallys mooching on the corner and their dwindling stockpile of breezeblocks

The ‘5th’ oblast of Kharkiv rarely gets a mention. On war maps it’s shaded differently as “Ukrainian reclaimed through counter offensive”. It was targeted by Russia in the early months, but over the last 6 weeks they’ve been forced out in an almost total collapse.

It’s a great example dispelling a myth put out by pro Putin trolls. Kharkiv oblast is 44% Russian speaking / 26% ethnic Russian, yet only 4% of the total population support joining Russia. Don’t allow the ill informed to wrongly use language or ethnicity demographics to claim “The Donetsk and Luhansk are essentially Russian”.

Well Done Sir, you clearly know your Spaghetti Westerns...
Watched it again the other day with the kids. They're not into westerns, but I'd like them to be.

A few years back I bought my teenage son the best Eastwood (Morricone) movies on DVD after he’d expressed an interest. He looked bored as we watched the first, so they ended up in my collection :)

Maybe I’ve missed it,but I can’t recall hearing much recently about the wonderful Russian airforce. Are they being saved, already lost too many or scared of being shot out of the sky by superior western weapon types?

There are a number of reasons. Anti-aircraft systems are a big one.

See this video from 15 Sept. It's got a bit of sponsorship advertising.

'Where Is Russia's Air Force? Shouldn't it be Dominating?'

Also see the video below from 00:30 onwards.

Poland are well not pleased with this sort of Russia... there's a lot of history there.
Polish contributions of military support to Ukraine top the charts, adjusted for their size.

Sounding like a veiled threat that the USA intends to take Putin out if he uses tactical nukes?

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/worl...sedgntp&cvid=d5e4fc87144b43368ff5197fc6f9a475

When asked what the US response might be, Mr Bolton said: "I don't think it needs to be nuclear, depending on what the Russians actually do.

"But I do think we should say it would be Vladimir Putin signing a suicide note if he authorised even a tactical nuclear weapon.

"It's very important that we deter the use of a nuclear weapon.
