Because this government has done basically nothing except spout pointless drivel like Dorries is doing here. If the UK govt had taken this decision and then Dorries wanted to trump it as an example of something tangible we were doing, it wouldn't be willy waving.

You may have noticed that it is the EU who are taking all the action whereas we are doing very little.

I take your point about this particular decision. I was wrong. However I’m sorry but the bit in bold is completely untrue.

Unfortunately Putin has an open door to push his crap and divide the west because some people are more interested in petty squabbles about other things.

OK I've exaggerated the difference but I am particularly annoyed at the fact the conservatives are clearly protecting oligarchs who are funding their party, so while Germany and Norway and other nations seize their yachts, we give them 30 days to squirrel away their assets. It's not very impressive is it?

Russian troops are about 15 miles south of Zaporozhye - this is clearly their next objective after securing much of the south coast. The two small towns adjacent to my parent in laws village are now in Russian hands. They shelled and destroyed the community hospital in Vavsilivka. They apparently now control the nuclear power station, and presumably will try to control the huge hydroelectric dam in Zaporozhye. The local towns were not defended...the local Ukrainian defence forces are in Zap

Lukoil Russia's second largest oil company put up a statement on it's website calling for an end to hostilities.
I went to check but looks like the website is down now!???

I’m glad it’s off air. However I don’t understand why it’s ‘willy waving’ if taken off by the UK Government but not ‘willy waving’ if taken off by the EU…..

Because there are many posters here who will not in whatever the circumstance praise whatever good the govt is doing. There is a simple unwillingness to see anything positive whilst we have a Tory govt. I pity these people in their trammelled viewpoint as I believe the govt is overall doing an excellent job supporting the Ukrainians on the ground and diplomatically and economically as well. I would like more help for people fleeing the war though it seems a lot of the Ukrainians want to stay locally in case they can return soon. I am not so sure this will be a quick process so long-term we should plan to accept more refugees. I think Labour would also be behaving very similarly were they in power as well.

I say this as a neutral who would like Boris to be removed.

£2291. Thats how much weve raised so far with the help of our very generous friends, customers and fellow BHA fans. Oksana and I are very humbled by your generosity and kind words. Spent today loading things on to pallets (and emptying Asda of Duvets) ready to be driven to Poland on Monday. 1000s of nappies, Baby milk, Baby wipes, Baby Powder, Shampoo and Bath. Shampoo, Handwash, shower gel, Sanitary towels, bandages, First Aid kits, Toilet rolls and Duvets. Still have some of the money left and will keep on collecting and will see what they say is the most urgent requirement and start to get things ready for the next shipment. Couldnt have done it without you. Today is the most pessimistic I have felt about the whole invasion. The first city captured. Much more aid will be needed in the near future.

It’s stating facts not petty squabbles. The EU took RT off the air.

Our government have said some sanctions will take 18 months to take effect, besides giving 30 days notice to oligarchs to move their money.
Turkey has effectively closed the Bosphorus, France & Germany confiscated yachts. The banking systems and internet closed down etc.

Just good capitalists... trying to look after their shareholders...

it is the intended purpose of sanctions, bans, boycotts to make business make a stand against the Russia government.

Putin is certifiable, absolute madman

This is the nightmare scenario that everyone has feared since Nuclear weapons became so prolific. A madman in charge of a country with not just a nuclear weapon but more of them than any other country.

Item 11. How many lives did that bastion of communism Stalin destroy ….

Millions - and as a socialist I utterly condemn the actions of the Stalinist regime.

Now -

will you join me in condemning the atrocities committed my Winston Churchill when he used poison gas on Kurds and Afghans in 1919 and when he ordered British troops supporting the White counter-revolution in Russia to drop poison gas bombs on peasnat villages supporting the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War ?

will you join with me in condemning the murder of innocent civilians, facilitated by the gvovernment of Ted Heath, by British troops in Ballymurphy in Belfast in August 1971 and in Derry on Bloody Sunday in January 1972?

Just knocking down your total BS

as for the rest TL/DR

enjoy the echo chamber

The last bastion of some who has been handed their rear end on a plate.

And for two reasons - I am putting forward a coherent argument - and I'm a socialist (and that just p*sses you off).
