Just thinking about this:
Trump accuses his opponents of being corrupt, anti-democratic, nasty, and using fake news/lying. This is everything he is!
He's literally following the Nazi playbook.
Well he has had a copy of Mein Kampf in his bedside drawer (allegedly) for the last 40 years whereever he is in the world.
Hard to believe though.. mainly because surely, he's never read a book in his life?

Nor written one according to the guy who (ahem) 'helped' write 'The Art of the Deal'.

Which reminds me, can anyone point to a single amazing accomplishment that this self styled gifted deal-maker has ever achieved?! 🤔

He consumes it whizzed up with half a dozen big-macs and a gallon of full fat cola as a mid morning snack

What I think is odd is that it's not easier. It would be a lot easier for the US to back Ukraine and make it clear to Russia that they can't win, and get them to agree to a ceasefire. But how on earth is Trump going to convince Ukraine to surrender? His choice doesn't seem like the easy option, it just seems like the stupid/corrupt option.
Well yes... I agree with you, because that's how we rationalise and think.
But Trump doesn't think like that - he doesn't think right vs wrong - he thinks power, without restrictions - he thinks extortion and threats.
For HIM it's easier to follow his world view. I hope he discovers that the majority of America disagrees with him.

He pissed off the European leaders so much, in just a week, that even Orban and Fico voted for the new European defense program - one helluvan achievement!

I didn't bring right and wrong into it. I understand that he thinks about power and threats etc. His choice maybe because he thinks it'll work (ie, it's easier). Or it may be due to being compromised.

Sadly I don't have much hope for these talks, I really hope I'm wrong but all Trump wants is Ukraine to capitulate and comply with what he wants.

It's all so nonsensical. The article questions how Trump will convince Putin to end Russia's aggression. But how tf will he do that when he won't even admit that Putin is the aggressor?!

Here's my gloomy thought - someone please correct me.
If Zelenskiy doesn't give the US what they want, then the US may immediately withdraw support.
Europe may stand firm with their support, knowing that if Ukraine is supported for long enough then Russia will eventually collapse economically.

BUT the US is very likely to lash out - Trump won't walk away from it. He'll lift all sanctions on Russia. Then he'll pressure Europe to drop sanctions, and will use tarifs to that effect.

Is this doom scrolling too much?
a possibly but looking at the growing discontent within the GOP I suspect he’ll have real problems pushing this through.
