When has Western Europe ever won a fight without the US help. Not for several hundred years when the world was a very different place. We need them. That’s the reality.
Then you might as well start learning Russian now if that’s your attitude. Because I don’t know how much attention you’ve been paying for the last week, but the USA isn’t coming to our aide. Not anymore, and certainly not under this president. Either we as Europeans stand up and fight or поклонись поглубже своему российскому начальству, иначе тебя отправят в ГУЛАГ.

That statement was clearly coordinated with Starmer, presumably Macron too. I think the whole point of their joint plan is precisely to ensure they tackle Trump together when the time comes.

I agree they will want to humiliate him - there’s already been some ridiculous comments about demanding a live apology on Fox News from Trump buttlickers.

There was an interesting comment on TRiP US about giving Trump a one-of-kind Hero of Ukraine gold medal. Lines up with my thought that Zelenskyy could win favour by offering to nominate Trump for the Peace prize.

It is a disgrace that this is what they have to consider doing, but the reality is they are dealing with a narcissist and normal rules of diplomacy do not apply.

Edit: source for my view that Starmer helped coordinated that statement
Ah thanks for the link 👍- I need to chase up why I've stopped receiving Guardian updates recently, especially as I pay a few pounds each month!

They'd have to give Vance a medal as well, or perhaps a free tour of the front line.
Maybe a Tesla dinky toy for Musk.
I know...any sucking up to Trump is vomit inducing, isn't it.

I want to thank the many posters (I won’t name individuals, but you’ll know who are from the number of “likes” I’ve given you), both here and on the Trump thread…

For your endless patience in explaining, both for me and for the trolls, what the feck is actually going on in the world today, and also recent history. Normally I would just dip in and out of these threads, but I’ve made a point of reading the lot (with the exception of a few trolls on ignore), and I’ve learned a lot of important stuff, it’s really helping.

Thank you!
I learn more from this thread than from all the mainstream media combined 👍

King Krasnov looking to lift sanctions on Russia.

At least it is only American sanctions, of course, and he has no power here or over individual citizens or companies.

Dear oh dear.

And what is he supposed to get in return for removing sanctions?

There has to be something, or it's clear that he's simply a Russian asset.

There really is no way back for you is there ? After all the time I wasted trying to explain (to a five year old, your words, not mine) why you shouldn't back Brexit, Johnson and Farage, you are way beyond help.

To be fair, for a moron, it's quite simple, I can't be wrong about Brexit = I can't be wrong about Johnson = I can't be wrong about Farage = I can't be wrong about Trump. Congratulations :shootself

I think it's now blatantly become obvious that Putin's financial backing of Farage and Brexit was only ever a successful test run (and helpful first step) towards the big prize

If I were a Brexiteer, I would give you a yellow card for a subtle attempt at derailment.

But seeing as I'm not, for those of us who still don't know, way back on this thread is a link to an article in the Wall Street Journal, which identified Russian funds from a Czech Republic based fund, that were used to finance far-right parties in five EU countries. Join just a few dots, and hey presto, our man o' the people Nige is a multi-millionaire, MP for Clacton, residing in......Brussels.
