The equivalent of Roosevelt calling Churchill a dictator while the bombs fell on London in 1940. That's how f***ing crass this is.

Trump has said today that Europe has failed to bring peace to Ukraine.

Funny that he hasn't told Saudi Arabia that they've failed to bring peace to The Middle East.

He has zero grasp of the nuances of foreign policy, and how by alienating his closest neighbours and allies he reduces his scope to Make America Great Again.

What does that even mean now? Great as in 'The Great Depression', 'Peter The Great'??

Good luck if you voted Trump and work in the US tourist industry as you might just be out of a job soon. Canada and Mexico represent over half of all foreign nationals visiting the USA, while the UK / EU take that number to over two-thirds.

I’ve always wondered what metrics the Americans that claim they’re the greatest nation on earth use:
Most calories consumed?
Most guns owned?
Most bibles thumped?
Most cousins married?
Most uses of the word like?

Europe would capitulate on Greenland and a domino effect. I can't see Europe retaliating to US aggression

The US navy could surround Europe and strike any where. The US obviously has troops on the ground here

There is, completely understandably, a lot of catastrophising going on here and elsewhere. A few things to remember:

  • Russia has spent three years making relatively small gains in territory. Its army is using mules at the front line and has failed to recover occupied territory in the Kursk region. It’s not about to roll across Europe like the Wehrmacht in 1940 - by all reports, their army is in bad shape
  • All Ukraine has to do to reject a ceasefire is keep firing. Trump can’t force them to hold elections, unless they agree to
  • Europe has massively underfunded its defences but there are signs this is about to change rapidly. The Danes just announced a big increase in spending, for a start
  • Tax isn’t the only way to raise the money. European banks are sitting on huge sums of frozen Russian assets. And normal fiscal rules don’t need to apply - it might give Labour the opening they need to wriggle out of theirs without much criticism, for example
  • Bluster, bullying and tantrum is Trump’s MO. It has shock value, but it also focuses minds in opposition quickly because there’s no great subterfuge
  • He is an incompetent buffoon with the attention span of a hyperactive 7 year old with a smartphone addiction
Things are grim, but they’re far from being lost. Time for Europe to iron out their differences and step up.

Is America really going to stand by and watch him and Musk destroy their country?
Sadly I think they will after all he's kept his promise & getting rid of all the illegals. Wait till inflation rises because of all his tariffs, then maybe they'll change their mind.
