Google the Northwest passage. And how it will be ice-free in a few years.

It is a massive short cut for China to transport its shit to western markets. A short cut means lower fuel costs, and enhanced ability to undercut western manufacturers.

Greenland, Canada and Panama are all about this. The NWP goes up the west coast of Greenland and across the top of Canada. Both Greenland and Canada will soon become very rich due to fees for shipping passing through, and fees for rescues and ice-breaking.

I don't see how Greenland could charge fees as the ships wouldn't pass through Greenland. Sailing the ocean next to Greenland doesn't give them a right to fees. It's quite different with Canada of course.

Trump would have it covered. If he owned both Canada and Greenland, he would own the strait between them. And if shipping started to use the narrow strip of international water between them, he could tow Icebergs into position to force the shipping towards his toll booths.

I've got it all covered.

Russia is no longer a heavy weight as the last three years has shown. That’s now just The US and China.

Trumps language is telling as is he manner of doing things. ‘Doing a deal’ is business talk as is going behind someone’s back to get a deal that suits you. This isn’t about peace but about making Trump rich. He's playing Russia so he can get mineral rights etc out of Ukraine. This tactic may work in business but in diplomacy this is a non starter. Thousands of people have died and you simply don’t ignore this. Turkey siding with Ukraine will put a spanner in the works for Trump as Turkey wants a weak Russia. Talk of Europe becoming closer militarily will also add to the mix.
Oh, he’s completely doing this for mineral rights.

He’s still allied himself with Putin in order to try and pull this off.

He Has a small problem … the Ukrainian people who aren’t going to be pushed around after 3 years of blood shed. Trump is just to stupid to realise it. He thinks Ukraine is a business and not a country, I suspect his view of the US is the same.

I doubt Trump will ever be able to set foot in this country again. There'll be social disorder that will make the poll tax
riots look like a teddy bear's picnic in the park.
Sadly there's a state visit planned for him.

Greenland is irrelevant to the point. Canada has the right to control shipping through the country. If Canada also owned Greenland, that wouldn't change anything. And if the US owned Greendland, that wouldn't change anything.

Trumps comments on Ukraine starting the war beggar belief. Absolute ****

Never seen such a re writing of history, even by a moron, let alone the most powerful man (moron) in the world.
Indeed. They do beggar belief.

They are so preposterous that I'm beginning to wonder if he really meant them.

Will there - a large proportion of people in this country are probably unaware of the war and are too busy watching love island or eastenders to bother or care about the news. Last year's riots showed that the likes of Musk can control them easily with a few sentences they read on their phone will searching what Beyonce was wearing last night. Others are more upset that their rich granny didn't get their £200 bonus this winter so they missed out on a Christmas present.

I was also thinking of protesting when he comes over. I've got quite a lot of practice of booing and wanker chants recently that may be useful.
Look at that colour scheme - he's definitely Palace.

Can they not be read as a bungled attempt at saying Ukraine should have made a deal before Russia invaded?

I don’t know, I don’t think it matters much. The positive of all this is that it leaves all of Europe in no doubt that Trump’s US cannot be relied on for anything.

Yes, but there are several interpretations. Whether they matter depends on which one you favour.

1. He meant it exactly as it was delivered.
2. He meant it as you have described.
3. He's angry at Zelensky rejecting his first offer ('which was a very fair offer, a beautiful offer, let me tell you').
4. He's bullying Zelensky so that he accepts Trump's next and final offer.
5. It's all a masquerade. Which Zelensky may or may not be in on. The problem I have is the B-52s. Why are they here?
