It frustrates me how people lazily bandy around the 'champagne socialist' label to disregard what he is actually saying. Can I not criticise sexism and misogyny because I am male or racism because I am white?

Also he gets criticised for pulling 'stunts' . Well that maybe the best way he has of making his message heard. He isn't stupid, he wouldn't think they have a direct impact, but we wouldn't be discussing it otherwise.

Quite. It's unimaginative lazy nonsense.

It's easier to just label him (incorrectly) as a champagne socialist than it is to actually consider what he is saying.

Coupled with that propaganda pedalled by the media that benefits from the current status quo and it's even easier to go along with.

AT least he has the courage to put his head above the parapet and state what he believes - as he has said, when he was poor and made th same comments he was called 'bitter', now he's rich he's called a 'hypocrite'.

I don't agree with much of what he says but I'd rather listen to someone who has the courage of their convictions and not simply write a blog using a pseudonym.

No he doesn't, the landlord of the house he rents does, apparently. Which is much like blaming you & me for Sami's football management shortcomings

So, is this the best his critics can come up with then? This is clutching at straws.

I don't find him funny, articulate or a crusader.

I find him a hypocritical tw*at who's main interest is in publicity. Remember him turning up for the MayDay demos in London a few years ago surrounded by cameras filming him to show everyone what a man of the people he is. Yet another champagne socialist taking cheap potshots at an industry trying to recover without really understanding it.

And yes, I do work in the financial markets..........

Will everyone stop using champagne socialist as an insult! It's so lazy, overused and meaningless!! Please for the love of God, stop reverting to type and trotting old the same boring cliches! No offence, like. By the way, he is funny. That's why he was voted favourite comedian and has won oads of awards and become rich. You may not like him. But is is funny in the eyes of millions...hence his dvd sales. I'd say he's a crusader because he is still passionately committed to his cause and trying to influence others. Again might not agree with him but it's an admirable trait to have. I definitely enjoy listening to his wordsmith, again might not agree with what He's saying but again definitely has that as a trait. so to summarise, I think that's 3-0 to me. :)

I am not really sure what this means?, we do 'have' him.

Well have him full time.
Makes me smile, if Brand was a right winger, with his low/crass jokes, his un articulate speaking, his drug abuse and his millions made not in politics, coupled with the fact that he is jumping on the bandwagon to save/further his career.........then he would be known as a knuckle dragger, foul mouthed etc.....but because he seems to be the champion of the left....the blinkers are on.

Funny? When did that happen?

I didn't say he's funny as in he burnt down his own town. I just said he is funny - as the millions he's made from comedy testify. Or were you being funny when you asked? Sorry but that wasn't especially funny if so. :)
